I changed the bulb, the high mount stop lamp still doesn't work. Other brake lights work. 1998 Buick LeSabre.
@RichRodgersOnline14 күн бұрын
I am sorry that didn't work. Do you have a voltage checker or a Volt Ohm Meter? If you have a volt-ohm meter you might check the bulb if it is open or closed with the ohm meter.. If open, the bulb is bad. If it isn't bad, you could put the tips of your voltage tester on the two metals in the bulb holder then have someone touch the brake to see if you have power or voltage. If not it may be your bulb holder or a broken wire. That would be a nightmare.... I hope it is a bad bulb... Good luck.

Similar sound coming from my gutters but mine are leafless. Does that make a difference?
@RichRodgersOnline25 күн бұрын
I am guessing that it doesn't make a difference if it is leafless. The wind blows and the gutter viberates. I am guessing, there needs be supports between supports. In other words, if you have supports every 6 feet (Pieces of metal holding the gutter.) Maybe putting supports every 3 feet. Not sure if that would fix it or not, but it is a thought.

In my opinion, even though the noise reduction in the Yaesu is better, it comes at the cost of clarity in the higher audio frequencies. I’d rather tolerate a bit more noise, then struggle to decipher o muddy audio sound. The menu system on Icom radios are far superior and more intuitive than the Yaesu system.

Can something like this be done with just a simple lowly Baofeng UV-5R? I’m extremely rural, and I’d just like to be able to hit repeaters that are 20 and 30 miles away from me. I can “kerchunk” them now with just the stock antenna, but it’s of no practical value. I want to be able to get in and USE these repeaters. I'm out in the country with extremely flat terrain (but lots of trees), and I have old barns FULL of junk I could make into antennas and masts. Tons of spools of wire (I bought the place with barns full of stuff, still mostly unexplored), stage lighting tripods that go up 10-20 feet, an obscene amount of PVC pipe, and hundred foot tall plus trees all around me. Are random wire antennas and such ONLY for HF (I'll get a nice HF rig when I can afford it), or can neat DIY things be done for 2m and 70cm as well? Even if a 2m/70cm antenna were to be small, isn’t HEIGHT STILL KING? Thanks!
@RichRodgersOnline3 ай бұрын
UHF and VHF depends on line of sight. If you have hills between you. That can be a problem. But since you are hitting the repeaters. This antenna will give you a 8 dbi gain. I can't tell you for sure. But it will improve your signal strength so to speak.
@SteveHacker3 ай бұрын
@@RichRodgersOnline … Yeah, I’m on very flat ground at 120 feet above sea level and the repeaters I want to hit are in near by towns 20-30 miles away but are on very tall water towers in towns that are much higher; about 240 feet above sea level. Only trees in between…
@RichRodgersOnline3 ай бұрын
@@SteveHacker It might be better to get a 50 watt or more transceiver. You might find more hams and more repeaters.... You can some times find them used at a good price.
