He is getting $300 of the $1500 the shipper agreed on. That's 20% . The carrier gets $1200. A Owner Operator leased on to a carrier will get a a percentage of the $1200. That Percentage could range between 70% -to 90%. At 70% the owner operator would make $840. The carrier the owner operator is leased to would make $360. Truckload freight rights through brokers are a absolute joke. Contract rates for truckload are so much better because the middleman (Broker) is not in the picture. LTL rates are night and day compared to truckload. If you ship a 20000 lbs load LTL from NC to California it will cost about $18,000. Truckload through a broker dry or reefer your luck to get $4500. It works! you have to use the type of rake he has though. I used the lighter rake with broad span at first. The poor little thing rested on it but then flew away when I moved it. Also try to get in middle of garage, less movement to walk the rake outside.
