In about 1983 I took my El Salvadorena girlfriend who had grown up in the Mission District but never heard of you to a hall on Mission St. to hear The Pete Escovedo Latin Orchestra. I knew of you not just from Carlos but I was a fan of Afro-Cuban and Latin music and followed Chano Pozo, Mongo, Patato, Tata Guines, Cal Tjader you know. You were fantastic and your orchestra (you had one of your sons with you), you lit me up like a Christmas Tree. What an incredible evening and such a memory. Thank you. Manteca!!

Great playing and nice groove. Still, it has nothing to do with the sound and spirit of the Brazilian pandeiro. Indian Kanjira- and other frame drum techniques applied to the pandeiro - in my opinion a mix with the instruments real technique would have been great. Nevertheless, super percussionist, both of them.

People saying the bongos “don’t sound great” must not be a fan of LP. These bongos are literally the same specs as the fiberglass bongos we have been used to for decades. Just with a different finish. It sounds great just like the other fiberglass models.
