BD also got a perfect 10 in Percussion. 🤷🏽♂️
@DanFib5 жыл бұрын
@@chadtarver3301 They got a 10/10 in achievement, yes. 9.85 in content though, bringing the total percussion score to 19.85. Being 4th in brass took them to 3rd musically. Bluecoats tied for 1st in music with Crown. So BD scoring so high in drums was not what put them over the edge. What did it was the 29.775 in visual to Bluecoats' 29.450. BD was so clean visually it couldn't be ignored. Not negating the fact that Bluecoats were the crowd favorite; they honestly should have won given their connection with the audience. But unfortunately crowd response can't be judged since it is 100% subjective. BD went by-the-book and earned their win. www.dci.org/scores/recap/2019-dci-world-championship-finals Check out the recaps

How is the audition to join PR on Euph?
@DanFib6 жыл бұрын
It might be a little different than when I marched, but typically it's the same as any other instrument really. You have a solo playing audition, usually with music having been provided to you in the audition packet, and a visual audition. The entire weekend is treated like a regular rehearsal camp weekend. You rehearse things with the entire hornline, as well as within subsections (euphs). The low brass will then be pulled into visual block to practice fundamentals/movement . From Nov-April you're still technically auditioning. The corps takes more people than they need because people will quit for one reason or another. If you don't get the spot right away, KEEP GOING BACK TO CAMPS. The staff takes notes and ranks each person in the section every month. You may be ranked 30 out of a section of 24, putting you in an alternate spot. KEEP GOING BACK! With attrition and working hard, you can put yourself safely in the section. This is literally what happened to me my first year (2011). If you do make it right away, DO NOT stop working. You can easily lose your spot if you get lazy. Things you'll be ranked on: Playing ability - tone, quality of sound, etc. (it's drum corps so work on finger dexterity and double tonguing) Physical fitness and ability to hold the horn (holding a 10lb weight in front of you for 20min a day will help A LOT) Marching and playing ****Willingness to learn and take instruction/apply information***** ****Positive attitude**** Best of luck to you! SUTA!

Daniel Fibus I'm a senior in HS and I age out in 2023. I'm going to spend next summer getting in shape / practicing. I've been playing Baritone since 6th grade which means by the time I audition I would have been playing since 2012 which is almost 7 years by the time I audition for 2020. I'll be fine with the musical audition I just worry about the amount the Euph weighs and and the visual audition as a rarely practice marching outside of MB.
@DanFib6 жыл бұрын
Don't feel too rushed! You have plenty of time to make sure you're ready. I made it after my freshman year in college and only got 3 years. That was more than enough though. The weight of the horn is all mental. Trust me. Once you cross that physical barrier, you have to convince yourself it's no longer heavy. As soon as you realize you are indeed strong enough, you can hold that thing for a while. Start off slow. Take a 10lb weight and hold it up during commercials breaks while you watch TV. When you're ready, hold it up during the show and give yourself a break during the commercials. I highly recommend practicing marching as much and as soon as possible. Don't stress too much over the marching technique just yet. Just try to make sure that your posture, timing, slides, etc. are good. The corps will teach you the technique at the first camp and you will be required to practice that in the off season. Many corps do visual assignments that require you to submit a video to the staff for feedback. You might be able to find examples by searching "visual assignment" .

Daniel Fibus How much do the Euphs phantom uses weigh?
@DanFib6 жыл бұрын
We were on Jupiter horns when I marched. Those were about 7.5 lbs. The King horns are just slightly lighter than that, and they're better balanced. 7.5 lbs doesn't sound like much, but when holding it out in front of you for a while there will be pain. lol Definitely overtrain as much as you can.
