I just bought this same camera. You can turn off the beeping in the menu and the camera is clicking because you've got it in "on" rather than "setup." The camera will operate with only four cells in the battery as the battery is divided into two banks (top and bottom.) The camera accepts an SD card up to 32gb and you have to format it within the camera, which is very simple to do through the on-screen menu.
