Urban myths to the contrary. Callas and Carson never had a falling out and the show in question on Sept 21, 1982 was pretty much typical Callas and both he and Johnny had laughs with it (the show also featured Richard Harris) So he was never "barred" from the show. In fact he appeared on a few more Tonight Shows albeit with Guest Hosts. But no, there was no animosity between the two. Carson Entertainment has even confirmed that the story is just a "myth".

I was fortunate enough to have seen Richard Pryor in person before he became well known, he opened for the jazz great Jimmy Smith. Richard was original, fresh, so honest and sincere. It saddened me when he experienced such pain and loss. I always admired his style, beautiful shoes, and manners. Even using curse words, somehow he was not offensive.

These interviews were well before my time but how much I laugh watching them.. I was born in 82 think this was late 60s and all I can say is this is by far more epic than the stuff todays comic ls can deliver

Look at the cast back then on The Tonight Show. Ed McMahon. George Burns. Carroll O’Conner. Don Rickles and Frank Sinatra. And Johnny Carson obviously was absent or let Frank take over the show that night. All masters at their crafts of comedy and entertainment. Legendary. 😎👌🏻

Johnny was THE best, and Joan was as well, and it is amazing to see the joy he got out of her humor, which was truly the funniest, maybe not for the squeamish, but for people who could laugh at life......what a combination of enjoyment.....

My favourite story of Mr Burns is on his 95th birthday he hosted a party. There were 5 young babes on the stage with him. “Now girls I’m 95, one of you is going to need to go home”. 😂😂😂
