Nice video. I belive this was the follow up title to curse of the dead gods which had awesome boss fights and was a great title. Let's just hope early access they weren't trying to show all the tricks up their sleeves.

Risk of Rain 2 is one of my favorite game and there's good chances that it's just been ruined by Gearbox, so I'd be very happy if Hyper Light Breaker was able to scratch that same itch when it comes out.

I thought it was an indirect prequel to drifter i cant fully remember though. Anyway its a shame early access was delayed to 2025 but i would rather them delay it then have a launch disaster

I didnt think ROR2 at all I immediately saw solar ash when i saw the world, it looks identical without the crimson waves and such.

It's releasing in early access, like it or not. So just understand it should release with some problems. You're basically getting a beta version.

My only concern, is that its late summer, and is that it is not out yet

Very happy to see someone make a video about hyper light breaker! I expect some news on thursday during gamescon. My only concern is the music. The first trailer music and the ost name singularity were bombs! I do hope that the game will match the vibes of those trailer.

As a Risk of Rain veteran player, if Breaker is similar to Risk of Rain 2 then there is nothing wrong with it. Ror2 is my favorite game and there are no other games like it over there. The main aspect of Risk of Rain 2 is the lack of permanent meta progression powerups and tons of passive effect upgrades that you get midrun. You can get between 40 to 80+ upgrades in a single run and there is nothing like this game out there But from what i've been seeing, Breaker seems like it won't be like Risk of Rain 2. The only thing that it looks like is it being 3D and a bit of the art style. There are no stages, didn't see any items, and the devs already told about upgrades outside runs. I really don't know where these comparisons are coming from

I agree with the points you've made in this video, but the underlining to the bosses being a bit lackluster is that your rewarded for learning their patterns when playing the higher difficulties. Another small detail I found to be quite important is that the Dash unlike many other Roguelikes does NOT have I-Frames, which forces you to learn the enemies rather than brute forcing them. And of course the game ism't perfect, it is still in early access. But once the full game comes out, I'd imagine we'll get a bunch more bosses, maps, enemies, characters and talents to work with.

For the first couple concerns like the procedural generation issue and hoverboard being slow, those are all things that the devs can easily implement/touch up on once the game releases based on player feedback. These aren't fundamental issues with the game by any means, so i'm not worried too much about it. If they turn out to be issues, the devs will most likely just put out fixes. As for the RoR2 comparisons... idk, people just say that it's a Risk 2 clone just because it's 3D and a roguelike. I'm not convinced those people actually have their own coherent thought processes and abilities to make distinctions. Like you said, that's pretty much where the similarities end. The only real concern is the *feel* of the game during combat and stuff. It looks relatively smooth but i have few concerns about how the character locks onto the enemies and stuff. There's a few clips where the player will start attacking something behind them due to the way the game handles targetting and stuff, which might lead to some jankiness. Additionally i'm really concerned about the playstyle variety and stuff. They've mentioned different classes and weapon variety, but i'm hoping there's a good amount of them and that the differences in gameplay are substantial enough. Ultimately i doubt we'll get a solid answer on these things until the actual game drops and we can test it for ourselves.

I've waited so long for this game that I lost a lot of hype, but this brings it back.

Amazing video, i wish it had a few more details on the bosses and some showcases of weapons and speculations about the many sistems(like the unique combos, gun recharge, healing, respawnign and the llimited lifes per world, etc.), but its amazing. great job.
