I’m about the same age as Peter and so can relate to what he’s saying about ‘80s pop and rock. That rather sudden decline in the quality of that music is largely what drove me to jazz.

Maybe I understand why you play this song. I am very impressed with the play by Ross. He completely undersatands the power of the Hammond organ. I love the power of the chord in the organ .

loved this one.. I am of the metheny, sco, abercrombie generation.. a fusion tone was what we all explored.. never went for the full chorus sound.. just wanted a bit of sustain.. love that he accepts change.. doen’t think he has the answer, unlike all the trad clones.. and I hve always thought it was about touch.. no matter the tone, you should listen for touch.. that’s what I am confident about.. you might not like my style and tone, but you can hear my touch, the touch of a fine guitarist, developed over 50 years.. love all the miles comments.. why play music you played 10 years ago? you play in the old way, bravo.. or, you play the old way, why? times change but many musicians don’t.. thanks for sharing this series, brilliant! 🎸😎

Seems Nigel, when asking Peter if his trio has had a discussion about time, just missed Peter’s entire point. When you have to have a discussion about it, you’re already done and ruined it!
