Great video showing its capabilities for cycling. I like its ease of use and portability. I'm curious about the dolly track mode. If you take a 90 degree turn, will it still stay in dolly track mode? I've seen some videos where it starts out dolly but then goes to follow me when you turn. Is that the case?
@travers_bikes22 күн бұрын
once you learn the quirks of Dolly track you can use it to your advantage. It obviously does not know where you are going so if you take a turn sharp you can catch it out and lose it or have it just follow (after the turn). If you are say, taking a left turn, just before the corner, swing to the right, so you are offset from the drone,it will straighten itself on you, then you can push it around the corner like you have an invisible self stick on it. You can also take advantage of it not knowing where you are going and use it for a passing shot, again, go to one side of the drone, accelerate past it and the drone will ride along side out and then pull in behind.

I’m currently looking for a setup and got a question about: ‘accidentally taking off the front wheel’. How does the K-lite handle such a thing in case of a Son hub? Great video btw!👍
@travers_bikesАй бұрын
@@puyck The kLite will just go into standby mode (the main beam goes off) if you stop or the cable is pulled out. I use a SON hub, its enough to be seen by and to illiminate just in front of you.
@puyckАй бұрын
@ My worries are more like: taking the wheel and forgot to disconnect the cable. Is There a chance of severe damage? That round Son coaxial cable might handle that sort of quite well. How does kLite it compared to that?

I noticed your chain had some rust on it. Do you blame it on the wax or was it there prior to waxing?

I think some chains are more susceptible to rust than others, I have a SRAM XX1 chain on my MTB, I never dry it after wet rides, just wash the bike and put it away and it has never shown any signs of rust.

Thanks for the tips. Presta valves can also leak when the tiny threaded shaft that the internal valve nut screws onto (the one you loosen off when inflating the tyre) is bent. Fortunately, new valve cores are cheap as chips!

Yeah, also the curve of the rim can pull the valve to one side if the nut is over tightened

Well done Michael. Thoroughly enjoyed your vlogs. I do wonder whether sharing the experience with someone else of a similar level of performance so you stay together would get you through the tough times ? Fair play to you for sticking 9 days alone. …… What do you do with your bike and kit when you stay in hotels ?……just going in a shop or cafe I would worry someone would have sticky little fingers 🤔😊
@travers_bikes3 ай бұрын
I think I ride better on my own, just ride at my own pace. Bikepacking can be a mental thing, sometimes you just have to get through it but you also need to know when to pull the pin. I had a lightweight lock for shops, at the hotels they were good, one allowed me to take it to the room. One put it in the cellar and the last one put it in the conference room.

It’s a game changer for me, taking a chain off now literally 5 seconds. It may seem like a minor thing but it takes the faff out of it.
@larryt.atcycleitalia57863 ай бұрын
I'll never understand the mania for surgically cleaning and waxing bicycle chains, unless perhaps you enjoy faffing around and spending money more than riding? Chains are cheap, so replace them before they wear enough to damage your cogs and chainrings. Drip some oil on it when it looks dry, wipe off the excess and clean it with a bit of diesel fuel and a brush during your regular washing session with dish soap. No big expense, complicated cleaning/lubing regime, just a happy drivetrain. What's the big deal?
@travers_bikes3 ай бұрын
Whatever suits your needs but there is proven chain life extending properties of waxing the chain. It’s a solid barrier that stops dirt getting in. When you do the initial setup, buying the wax heater it’s little more faff but day to day it takes less effort to wax a chain than clean/degrease and run drip lube over a chain. I literally have got 2x 3x more life from a chain by waxing than drip lube, no more dirty hand and more money in my pocket. I guess it depends what’s important to you, if you just want to ride your bike and change your chain then carry on with what you are comfortable with.
