I know it looks like it could be DCS but it is actually BMS. You can see when I have external view of aircraft the view description is displayed upper center of screen. Says Orbit Camera and my callsign. Over to the left is engine stats. Which are in the BMS sim. This video of mine is the same but in daytime kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnvNZ6OsaZpmpqMsi=y7A99QOe168i_V5B and at the end you can see the communication menu come up which is also the same in BMS. It's been 6 years and I had to question it myself, LOL 😁

Thank you my friend, it took many attempts to figure it out. I start my approach at 8 miles out and I'm very busy with flaps, brakes, hook, landing gear sequences at the same time watching airspeed and altitude. Very stressful but is a relief to make a good landing without exploding 😄

I’m playing this on a 2GHZ, 2 GB RAM Windows XP desktop PC with a GT 710 card. It looks and plays great! I haven’t gotten good at playing this game yet.

The co-pilot voice is so great. What other game has has someone yelling out "SHIT WE'RE HIT ! " ( 9:33 ) or " SHIT , GET US OUT OF HERE ! " random with the shit reference preceding we're hit ! Not in this video but I'll try to scare him better next time to make him say it. 😄

That is Lock On - Flaming Cliffs version 1 . The Flaming Cliffs mod was created by Eagle Dynamics, ( DCS ) as an enhancement to the original game Lock On Modern Air Combat ( LOMAC ) which was also created by Eagle Dynamics.

This actually has the EECH AllMods mod installed. eech.online/news/eech-ver1-16-1-is-out/ At the time of this video I didn't quite understand how this mod improved the original game. I should update the details in the description to include mod detail and link. It greatly improves the original game.

Thanks. It took many hours of practice and totally rely on your instruments like AOA, speed, altitude , etc. The visuals are not so exciting but the accomplishment is very satisfying.

Yes correct. They also made Wings of Prey in 2009 , A WWII warbird sim. And then Gaijin went on to develop War Thunder. You can definitely see the influence from those games in War Thunder.

I'm not sure exactly but I'll let you know what my PC specs are and offer a suggestion for a program that might help. Mine is a Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, i7 4.0ghz Intel, 64 gig of system ram. nVidea RTX 2070 with 8 ghz ram, samsung 32" curved monitor running 2560 x 1440 at 144 hz . But I think it should run on less than that. I also use Razer Cortex that has game booster and system booster that clean up your junk files, defrag, and shut down programs that you select to not run in the background. Allowing your PC to not be bogged down when playing a game. It has really helped me. www.razer.com/cortex

I am using dgVoodoo2 wrapper that is set to my desktop screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 . Also the graphics setting in LockOn is at 2560 x 1440

I tried Strike Eagle II but I couldn't get a proper external side view of the aircraft to match the other sims in this video.

@richardstinchcomb5604 OK, I got it. But also if I recall correctly the DCS model for F-15 was drastically updated smth in beginning of 2010's (circa 2013 I think ) not in 2023. Also you could mention Razbam model of F-15E .

Just by chance I saw a video on Facebook from a DCS group showing how he was able to play FC1 , Lock On Gold on Windows 10. I got to ask him a few questions, how he was able to do this. He sent a KZbin link on how to install this game without Starforce protection and had links to download. His entire video was in Spanish and I had to use a language converter to speak with him and decipher his instructions. He had link for that No CD patch and the other necessary downloads but his video and all the links are no longer on KZbin. I've uploaded all of them to my MediaFire account and created a Facebook group called Lock On Flaming Cliffs 1. It's there If you need it just join up and it will also help build the group.

Hello, stay tuned I am sure that there will be another KZbin'r I know that should be doing a tutorial on installing this game on modern PC. Watch for @thejetfighter www.youtube.com/@thejetfighter to be making a video about this. He also has other flight sims that he discusses on several of his media accounts. Very well done tutorials several older flight sims on modern PC's. I have the files and basic install notes uploaded to my MediaFire account if you need them sooner. You will need to install virtual DVD software like Daemon tools to run the ISO files and install on your PC. I've tried using the retail CD version of LockOn Gold with StarForce protection, however could only play by installing game on Windows 7, using an update to the StarForce software. But since then found the version that bypasses the StarForce. It consists of the original LockOn v1.0, then install Flaming Cliffs 1.1, then Update patch 1.12a, and then update patch 1.12b. and finally the No-DVD patch. It works great. And yes, there is not much information available on this game, especially since LockOnfiles website went away. I think it is a very underrated game and deserves some attention. I may end up doing some videos about tips and how to's about the game from what I've learned about it so far. I've had the game since new, 2003? but never fully got involved in it until now. I enjoy it more than FC3 , probably because of the nostalgia and it works. 👍
