I’m embarrassed to say that it took me 33 years to recognize the challenges of my lefty son🤦🏻♀️after watching a short video that I had to watch for work🤯so this year I went and bought him all these lefty supplies🥹pens, notebooks/journals etc for his bday and apologized for not realizing this sooner. That’s what happens when ur the oldest of 4 yikes. Thankfully he was understanding and kind💞 #leftiesunite you have my support😃

I am sitting here in Brisbane Australia - lying on the bed having fed my dog - dinner is cooking on the stove - fascinated by what you are saying. I am a little older than you (born '61) and I have never heard the expression "high yellow". Although, I have heard pretty well every other way of classifying people. Growing up - We used to have a set of Time Life Books and one was on the different classifications of humans. I PAWED over that particular book as a child - I loved all the pictures and was desperate to meet all of these strange, interesting, beautiful people of different skin colours, clothing, ways, places and languages. I come from a loooooooooong line of white Europeans - back to the Picts (a violent and war like terrifying people of the British Isles hahahaha). You are free to be and express your wonderful self in this beautiful world. Be free woman and I can't wait to hear your next instalment on your amazing journey. I really want to know what was so life changing though. THAT question or THAT moment in your day is what got my attention. Do it on your terms from your point of reference and from the heart. Growing up multi racial during a period of time it was rare was always referred to as light skinned or high yellow and as much as wanted to be an actress during adolescence there werent women on tv that depicted my complexion. And Tv shaped my young perspective. So as much as I loved shows like Different Strokes Good Times What’s Happening & Sanford & Son And even cartons All the female characters were dark. So I remember being so excited when Bill Cosby introduced his Show it was so refreshing and empowering for my teenage self.
