Gran Canaria is an amazing place to grow up as a kid and settle down if you want a lifestyle on an island in the sun. I am a New Zealander and I have lived in Las Palmas since 2007. Back in the days before digital nomads. Your pros and cons Catherine are spot on. However, there is also a lot more to explore here on the islands (you need a car) and if you love historical culture check out the Guanches who were the original people of the islands. Learning Spanish is a must if you want to integrate well. Being a kiwi I have felt a strong bond with the Canarian People.

My interview was at the end of March, and while it was not the best or worst interview I have ever had, I did make a few mistakes. The recruiter said she would get me next week for another round, but I have not heard from her since then. I am still waiting for a response, but I have not received a rejection email yet. I'm in a similar situation, on a WHV in Japan just finishing up my winter contract in Hokkaido and going volunteering around. I wonder though, do you register all these new addresses at the city hall each time you volunteer somewhere else? I've been told that I'd need a proper permanent address and they can't put a hostel's one on the card. So after you got the moving out papers what did you do with them next?

You missed Takapuna, Warkworth, Orewa, Westgate, Hobsonville,West Harbour, Titirangi, New Lynn, and how can you miss Pukekohe and theres more. Working class trades people live all over Auckland not jus West Auckland. Overall it had some good information and enjoyed it. Thanks.

Flatbush is a good area but the problem is that the houses a very close to each other. My friend lives there and said that at night when its quiet he can hear his neighbor flatulate every night since all the houses in that area being built so close to each other. The other thing is the parking, there are 6 plus bedroom homes with only a double garage and you'll be lucky to get one where you have space for a couple of more cars or even 1 to park on your property and to make it worse theres no off street parking. Cant park on the road and some can park on only one side of the road. Big houses with alot of parking issues and the houses being built very very close to each other and asking for over a million dollars not worh it.
