I bet the eraser on the end of a pencil would work to stamp that little dot!

That is a great idea! We used the end of a marker at the crop. It worked but was an open circle.

I use scrap paper and just cover everything. Then it doesn't matter how big my foil piece and I ALWAYS have scrap paper. Old mail, bad printout...

You would need to be careful coloring the envelope because it will bleed through.
