@nightshiftfishing10 күн бұрын
September is generally a good time for the Canal. Check out the recreation areas at either end. The Army Corps has a map that show parking areas. Spend some time watching what others are doing and you should be able to see what areas produce and how to work the lures they’re using.

Hey matt I’m new to your channel but I do watch some on the water and I’m currently down in west Yarmouth right now and have fished the past two days with no stripers but some small blue fish some Krokers and northern king fish here inshore on squid but I was wondering if you’ve been out at all recently to know what theve been bitten on there?
@nightshiftfishing10 күн бұрын
For bait I typically use chuck mackerel or squid so it sounds like you’re trying the right stuff. Maybe try early mornings if you’re looking for stripers. If you’re out on the beaches, throwing poppers at first light and metal lips or needles before first light would be a good option.
@donmeola586215 күн бұрын
All stripers are good. Some are just gooder than others! 😊 Thanks for taking us along Matt. Sipping my cawfee first thing in the morning and watching your videos makes me want to be out there bending a rod too! Soon enough I hope.

So cool - that’s some small world stuff right there. Brad is a super nice guy and was a pleasure to fish alongside for a couple days this past weekend. The guy definitely put his time in and earned that fish. After I recorded this video he went and picked up a couple of the lures from this report and the next day he put on an absolute clinic, fish after fish outpacing just about everyone else there. Happy to see him get on the fish! 🎣🐟

Been to the canal 4-5 times this year and haven't had any luck. Mostly been jigging. Going to try some of these top waters you have used in the past couple of months and hoping to get one this coming month. Thanks for sharing!
@nightshiftfishing22 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and good luck out there. You’re not alone, it’s been a rough year overall. I spend a lot of days catching nothing for each one of the videos I make showing fish being caught… I’d recommend mixing up spots along the Canal and watching what others are doing who do catch. One technique I use is to rotate through approaches too. Try a jig for a dozen casts, then a swimmer for a dozen casts and then a top water pencil, and so on… I also rotate form factors so I use a long/skinny jig then I switch to a short/fat body jig. Same with swimmers, first will be an SP Minnow style swimmer then a stick shad with a different profile. For top water I try the OutCast with the hybrid style then a traditional pencil like a Left Eye. Sometimes it’s just being in the right spot, other times it’s finding the color or form factor that the fish want. Tight lines!
