About six years ago when I was hauling containers, I took a 20-footer to some country-bumpkins in Iowa. Fireworks for the 4th-of-July from China. Same size boxes floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Took three grown men three hours to unload it. No rollers but a John Deer bucket on a tractor.

Anyone watching this and just starting to unload Family Dollar trailers; I am telling you and warning you, Do Not Use product to hold up your rollers. Those workers will start complaining If they’re nice then they’ll ask you if you couldn’t do that, but from experience; they’ll most likely complain the entire time, lmao

And also; Anytime this guy says; “it might happen” Just know; that it always happens, so not only do you gotta be okay with a bit physical labor, you gotta be compassionate and understanding Neither you or them want to be unloading that truck. It sucks for everybody, but working together will always make it go by better

another thing that is a problem is the uboats used. rather than horizontal length on these carts, shorten that length and go vertical with a cart that has a step for stockers to get to the top shelves. the uboats are more useless than anything clogging pathways for customers etc. there clearly are no brains behind this like at walmart, kroger, meier etc

Walmart
@Scott_Terry Жыл бұрын
From my experience, I'd say Dollar General since you'll have a lift-gate and the freight is in those fancy carts. Family Dollar you're doing it all by hand. Sysco is in the middle because - at least from what I hear - you can use a hand-cart / dolly....then again, you'll be in tighter places with Sysco, potentially. The Family Dollar is the most difficult of the three, and the most thankless - make sure you have a damned good reason to be on that route if you choose it.

One company offered me up to $2k/week or $3k/week if you go out Saturdays and home daily. I don't see it though---no way someone is doing this job consistently in one day(or at least while having a life). All it takes is one employee going extra slow unloading your stuff onto the pallet off the rollers or a late manager not opening on time and you're behind schedule and screwed for the day. I saw one lady's video who did this and she showed up at 6am for unload and the manager was late and didn't show up til almost 9am. She wasn't even able to get into the back door til almost 10am. Now she was OTR so at least she had a sleeper... I can't imagine doing this home daily.

This is a joke 😂😂
@nadiyah70713 жыл бұрын
DG is easier than this?
@droptozro2 жыл бұрын
@@nadiyah7071 DG has rolltainers, so in that manner yes it's way easier. The comparative issue with DG is that rolltainers can be VERY heavy at times if full of water/dog food(up to 1000 lbs) or milk(on the reefer side). Also there are toppers(the toilet paper products mainly) on the dry side trailer above the rolltainers and some loaders are not so helpful when it comes to this and you'll end up digging them out to get all product to proper stores. That means either moving RTs for other stores out of the way or climbing on top to get them dug out.

@@wgist87 we got 2k per trailer. You pick up Sunday and drop Monday, pickup Tue Drop WED and pickup TH and drop off Friday. Your only day off is Saturday. We put in two weeks and quit, too many variables to overcome; 1. You have to fight for good rollers and lock them up with a thick chain so they won't get stolen. 2. Zero training, you have to figure it out on your own. 3. Tight back ins. 4. You never get the same store twice, so you have to study your approach every time. 5. Stores differ is speed and quality of their employees, so if you get slow people at your first drop you will finish late or have to finish up the next day, you do get $1000 extra for that though. 6. If there is an issue you are on your own, broker will not respond in a timely manner and all they care about is you unloading the trailer at whatever cost. 6. Some stores you have to get out before a certain time or else you will get trapped by cars! 7. It is back breaking work! The reason we quit was because a manager did not show up for our first drop and so we could not do the other drops, my broker did not get back to me until 14 hours later.
