Why is reel back tension not considered in the example?
@ELEKSoftware7 ай бұрын
There may be no reel back tension due to gravity or machine infeed.

How 45A is calculated? What is the power factor you used?
@ELEKSoftware7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your questions. 45 A is given, it’s the rated current of the motors. The power factor is incorporated in the simple Vc constant for voltage drop as either 1 or 0.8. You should use software for better accuracy-see the link to ELEK Cable Pro Web above.

What is Vc? how did we come up with that value? I got really confused
@joeyjorgiejeno130710 ай бұрын
It’s a constant related to cable impedance for the cable from the standard AS3008. Other standards may provide different constants with different units to Vc but the principle is the same.

This webinar is a great resource for electrical engineers who need to perform accurate HV cable rating calculations to IEC 60287. Jayson Patrick does an excellent job of explaining the concepts and demonstrating them with examples. He also covers the changes and differences between IEC 60287 and the guidance points provided in the new CIGRE TB 880 (2022), as well as the improved 3-core armour loss calculations in the new CIGRE TB 908 (2023). I highly recommend this webinar to anyone who needs to stay up-to-date on the latest HV cable rating calculation standards.

Please, I am testing the coordination program that looks very useful to us, we are in Miami Florida, do you know if your national electric code is similar to our NEC, and if case of coordination is possible to add other breakers like Siemens. At what time is possible to call your office. Thanks, in my opinion is an excellent product. Confirms

Hi Antonio, we really appreciate your interest in trying our product. The codes we include are AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, BS 7671 and IEC 60364 so far. I think the fundamentals of all the LV electrical standards in terms of design are quite similar. You can email [email protected] and we can organise a meeting time which suits.

One month ago. I was doing a transient stability study where downstream MCCB with Thermo magnetic PD shall trip on 3 phase SC fault and upstream ACB shall not trip. Incoming source is a DG. When I did the relay coordination study then I observed a definite time gap between tripping of the downstream MCCB and incoming ACB. However during the transient stability study downstream MCCB did not trip due current decrement factor and excitation control in the DG. If I lower the current settings in the MCCB then it crosses 125%of full load current criteria. Eventually I added micomp120 relay instead of thermomagnetic protection. The window of thermo magnetic protection gives problem while using transient stability with a DG.

Thanks for your question. Please try the software Cable Pro Web and you will notice that ON or OFF means that part of the time current curve will be present or otherwise. Hope this helps.
