I still do not get devils advocate minimum overlap, how do you do that in an exam where there is no time to think of every possibility
@atarproau
@atarproau 21 күн бұрын
Practice. You eventually get to a point where doing minimum overlap / playing devil's advocate becomes second nature for all the syllogisms you do. The more you practice the skill, the better you get at it. Just like riding a bike.

bruh why did you take 6 and half minutes to explain that its faster to use a number pad

because the amount of people that 1) don't use the numpad, or 2) are slow with the numpad is criminal!

i don't understand devils advocate and minimum overlap diagrams
@atarproau
@atarproau 21 күн бұрын
In a nutshell, never make any assumptions about the statements. If a statement says all A = B, and you begin to think that all B = A as a result... Minimum Overlap / Devil's advocate would suggest that you think to yourself: "what if I'm making a wrong assumption here" This helps you avoid making assumptions that could lead to wrong answers

how do you do longer narrative syllogism and data based ones, and harder questions, can you do a video?
@atarproau
@atarproau 21 күн бұрын
For the narrative ones, treat them almost like VR passages. Where with the basic ones, you take whatever words are used as final, with the narrative ones, there is more room for interpretation even if the words in the statement are not directly stated in the stem. For the data based ones, I'd recommend approaching them similarly to the basic ones - never make any assumptions about the data. Only ever trust whatever is directly stated in the graphs

May I ask, what should someone’s schedule look like in terms of UCAT revision per day? In terms of what they should do in a day? Do you have a framework for this? I love your videos - they makes a lot of logical sense :)))))
@atarproau

Brilliant question I would be doing a non-negotiable 1 hour of practice a day either before or after school. This hour would comprise of working on a couple of specific focus areas (i.e. Today, I want to focus on AR Set A/B/N and DM Venn Diagrams) The bulk of my time would be spent working on this focus area. I would then do some light timed practice on the other subtests (in this case, VR and QR) so I can stay fresh at them. The following day, I would choose other subtests to focus on On days I did mocks, I would do 2 hours of mock + 1 hour of analysing what went wrong. Analysis helps you figure out what your focus areas should be!

hi ty for the video it was really helpful ;D but for the second meditation question " meditation programs in schools are being used to reduce stress and anxiety amongst students," can you please explain why the answer isn't false ? ); i so confidently picked false thinking i understood but it's can't tell. I still have trouble with understanding when it's appropriate to pick can't tell. in my practice mocks and questions it really affects my progress );
@Dark0Knight94
@Dark0Knight94 Жыл бұрын
False - should only be selected if it states in the passage the complete opposite to the statement given in the question. Can't tell - is only used when we don't have enough knowledge/information in the passage to answer confidently True or False. Most of the time You will get stuck between True and Can't tell, because False is usually very easy to find. As with false you are only looking for a statement in the passage which goes against the question. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for this! I failed UCAT twice. I took tutors before but nothing. I only must practice. When I do DM, I feel dumb that I do not get in 1.5 min. I don't know what else to do. I don't want to fail again. Please give me some advice. Thank you!

I don't think the calculation is right at 9:42, it should be 300% is it not? 31200/7800=4 so that is 100% + 300% so 300?
@atarproau
@atarproau Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in response! The formula goes as (New Value - Old Value) / (Old Value) So here, it would have been (31200 - 7800) / 7800 Which gives us -> 23400/7800 = 3 = 300% increase Apologies if this was not clearer in the video! Hope this helps
