And to think Achilles wouldn't of had to kill Hector if Achilles didn't bring Patroclus with him. Seriously, why was he brought along if Achilles wasn't going to let him fight in the first place? If Patroclus had stayed home, Achilles never would of gotten involved in the war, Hector would still be alive, and Troy would of remained standing. Because if Patroclus wasn't in the battle that killed him, Hector and the Trojans would of wiped out the Greek army, thus eliminating the Wooden Horse thing. Basically, many things would of been avoided if Achilles made his 'cousin' stay home.

The difference between Hector and Achilles is the same as a US Marine vs NBA Basketball Star. Hector's code echos that of the soldier, his mannerisms to his personality scream that. That’s the point of the movie. Achilles in the end realises that he was wrong and weeps after killing Hector. He understands that it’s easy to kill a man that has to take care of his family when all you do is train for war. He sees what hector meant when he told him that this stupid quest to become the best warrior to be remembered was costing a high and unnecessary toll in lives. The thing is he only realises when he himself falls in love and thus becomes vulnerable. Achilles would have never been hit by an arrow in the heel if he hadn’t kneeled to help Briseis. I think that there are more dissertations to make about the film, like how Troy can be seen as a martyr city that, at the cost of its own destruction, it stoped a warmonger like Agamenon. Apparently however the film is a loose interpretation of the book so it’s not very relevant.

Patriotism then vs now is so night and day. We care more about damn fucking pronouns and how many genders there, plus the damn debt and inflation we are in, and the cherry on top is that the government is ran by people that are in it for themselves. I think the stakes were meant to be a barrier for advancing infantry. To block and limit their advance. Sadly for them, Acchilles and his Myrmidons were very experienced and managed to maneuver around them rather quickly. (or maybe the Trojans just didn't have time to set *enough* of them up)
