Thanks to my Dad, "Dougan" was the first word I ever said, followed by "Wolves", then "Dad", then "Mom"

Colin Hall from Wolverhampton who used to play for Forest in the late sixties was from my school in Wolverhampton- Carlton School, Broad Lane, Bradmore. Mr. Clarke the headteacher was a Nottingham man, and advised the club about the potential of Colin. The rest is history.

As an Evertonian for nearly 70yrs 💙 Alan Ball in my opinion was the Best player that has Ever worn the famous Everton Shirt...I absolutely idolised him when he played for The Blues back in the 60's....as we used to chant ...."Whose the Greatest of them all?...little curly Alan Ball"...💙He was an Evertonian to the bone!...💙 Never to be forgotten 💙

Lee won Pen a famous cheat, ask Norman Hunter who gave him a good smack for cheating. In fairness Lee fought back well forcing Norman into a fast retreat, but none of it would have happened if Francis Lee hadn’t had dived. As an aside he made his debut for his hometown club Bolton Wanderers in 1960, scored a goal, was booked and burst into tears. A major player in Manchester City’s league winning team in 68, Young, Lee, Summerbee, Bell, and Young were a great front five.

I was an apprentice at the Baggies in 1972, we used to get there at 9am and the 1st team at 10am, as soon as Jeff turned up he would give me a piece of paper and a £10 note, i used to have to go up the bookies and put his bets on for the day, £10 was a lot of money in those days, he was a real gentleman.

Great memories. Became a Villa fan during the 1976-77 season. Loved the forward line of Gray, Little & Deehan. Was year of the famous 5-1 result v Liverpool. Also went on to win the League Cup - followed the final on radio as an 8 year old & remember screaming in delight at Chris Nicholl's equaliser 03:00. Great innocent times

Makes you realise how good they were back then - lousy pitches & a ball that was probably like kicking a lead weight sometimes

The old water absorbent lace up leather balls had gone by the '70's...they disappeared in the 60's...But you're right, the pitches were often mud lakes...

Loved the football in the 70's/80's. Also loved the commentators, Hugh Johns, John Motson,Brian Moore, Gerald Synstad ? David Coleman. I'm a Man U fan but loved the midland teams Derby, Villa and Forest. That save from Shilton v Coventry!! As Roy Keane would say " he's doing his job" , but today they'd have to stop the game with all the high 5's , back slapping and hugging going on.. Them midlands teams didnt half have some fantastic/ great players!!
