Kramer was a lot more nervous than brother Kaz, So make your bows while being nervous is good.

Useful as always. I just made my first horse bow but instead I designed it to fit the strings I had Long loops are not something I had considered. As I begin to understand horse bows I can see why I should

100% can confirm they have amazing Cust service. I ordered the wrong size bow string as a noob would. I offered to ship it back for a replacement and they said it wasnt a problem. Paid for me to ship it back AND sent out a new one to the correct length! BLOWN AWAY! WIll always buy my boy accessories from them

I just got done making my first two bows I made a 68” hickory long bow at 40 lbs at 28” then I made a Comanche short bow that’s 58” and 73lbs at 23” that’s made from red oak then I backed it with hickory. These videos made me wanna start making bows again and I finally did it.

Ive heard mixed reviews from flemish twist on horse bows. Some say not to twist the string at all! Either way, I've never tried it. I shoot a Korean horse bow ktb. I would love to try it some time. Love your channel. I've been subscribed before I started archery. You guys were a big influence on my start! Thank you thank you thank you!😂

My expert opinion is the lam looks great but I wrote to one of your other vids and would love a bow that shoots super fast with a short draw like 26" for us trex arm dudes thanks lets go I take a bow from ya and don't mind paying for a short draw bow that will shoot faster then 165+ fps for us short draw guys
@Solrac-n4t7 күн бұрын
Yo for us guys with trex arms could you make a bow with killer speeds for us short draw guys like 26 ish draw lengths ... if you could make a custom bow optimized for us I'd buy one from ya asap ... I make alot of my own bows but there self bows or sinew backed or bamboo backed bows that perform well about 165 fps +......at 26 but would love a bow that shoots faster

That is how I did mine years ago, but I didn't have a means of doing the second end easily as I didn't have a clamping jig. And it was a bit of a struggle. I know a lot of other people have tried this. For me it was for 8 strand strings, I have never had a regular loop blow.
@HondoTrailside8 күн бұрын
This is an old idea. I did this about 5 years ago, but when i got into it, my own idea, I quickly realized that they were nasty to make. The first loop is easy, the second loop is harder to hold. I would have needed a jig to do it, and I lost interest because someone I respect had moved to continuous loop. I had been using flemish for at least 30 years at that point. The reason I tried to make it was because back then, there was a lot of interest in 6 and 8 strand strings. And some makers were going out of business because they so hated padding the loops so the loops wouldn't break the bows. With continuous, only half the strands go over the limp, so they need the serving not because the they use, say, 8 strands, but because they divided their 16 strands so only 8 went over the tip. Anyway, back to the video. I am hoping that your come up with a different way than I was using, though I am passed this stage of things. P.S. one amateur, or custom issue I had is I had to rework the whole string end out of the serving if I wanted to make a length adjustment. I make the string the perfect length of my bow, not to a number, and I twist it up to optimum, not to make up for errors in string length. What a hassle that is. By the way, another thing I tried was working paracord sheath into the ends, I also tries using it as a silencer by making it baggy over the string, Neither I really liked.

No you can’t make a bow in a few hours. You can take a stick and bend it to resemble a bow

It took me about 5 books and one year to produce a bow from a stave. The good news is that it was a great and powerful bow! Then I cut it in half used a sleeve to make it a T/D bow. Still a great bow. It is 56# @ 28" 67 inch long hickory bow.

Good points! My most pleasant shooting is done with a $20 old Indian Archery bow that i got at a flea market. It's a good bow. Only 37# DW. But it is smooth and fun to shoot. Luckily, I'm at the age that I have nobody to impress but myself and my wife. So as long as im having fun, forget what anybody else thinks.

This put tears in my eyes! Has this guy ever used tools before? Cutting the end of the glass with the wrong type of saw , should have done it on miter saw. He should have trimmed the glass first on a table saw so the wood sat flush on its edge, all that cost him a bunch of time on the sander , not to mention you should pass it on the table saw glass up so it doesn't delaminate. He should have made a template for the taper angles of the limbs. i can hardly watch this. ok so that was the practice session, can he do it the right way and in half the time next. the caption said build a high performance bow not a string he should have had a string done before hand! but he has skills at building string!!! tiller grind is an art for proper flex of each limb.. next up! part 2 much better start. again the bandsaw for taper ? why not the table saw? still no template... nice job on second shot at it!

Big difference I saw is that Kaz just dove into the build, no marking lines or any prep at all, whereas Kramer started out by putting his layout lines ending with a cleaner build. Shows how much planning helps out. The experience shows.

If I did a bow like this in 30 minutes mine would be a PVC English longbow so I am only needing to with heat flatten the front side while only using enough heat on back to have bend without breaking for the PVC the Gray Conduit PVC schedule 40 that is still like the plumbing PVC using the Gray for the least chance of failure, adding a wood handle and tip overlays so if I wanted later I could use a normal string. I would for the bow handle use Hickory shovel handle thing for the handle area and then some of the shovel handle I have tapered for the static tips and used a quick drying super glue for the protection on tip ends and any exposed wood on the handel. For the 2 shelves I would use small scrap bits of wood from the project the made quick to proper size and holding on with a higher quality gray duct tape for the grip area. To connect all the pieces, I would have used small self tapping screws on each front and back side of the bow predrilling the limb parts

Bow build question could someone use cured buckskin as a backer material?
@chrishall754313 күн бұрын
If you’re going to use leather as a backing, the ideal way to go is rawhide. Tanned leather is supple and soft, whereas rawhide is dried out and hard. The drier the leather, the less weight it adds to the bow, and less mass will up the bow’s performance.
