Lost my red baby girl husky @15 yrs old, the colder it got the happier she was. Walked 4 to 5 miles EVERY day, 365. Never came in my house, she refused, when it was winter, I would get up in the morning, she would be sleeping on top of her dog house, which was heated to 40 degrees. Coolest dog ever.

I am on my sixth dachshund. Two of them have been put down for old age so we just had to get some more. The only problem that I’ve seen with these animals is that even though they are housebroken, as they get older, they tend to be territorial if there’s more than one pet and they will, relieve themselves in the house. I am constantly having to mop up baseboards. They only do this when they want to become territorial. Most of the time they will always go out on their own and they will be very loving and easy to work with. I don’t think I would own any other breed.

I have had 9 dachshund’s in my life,6 now and 3 others in the past. Out of the ones I have had,the boys are very well behaved and could not be better pets maybe besides the barking. The girl’s are stubborn and very temperamental but they don’t take any crap off of the boys. They are excellent hunting dogs and they are not afraid of anything no matter the size. Like most hound type dogs they are always hungry and will eat until you stop giving them food.

They are wonderful campions for seniors. My last dachshund I had just passed away four months ago and I am aching for her so bad. They have always been my favorite breed of dog. They are so precious.

We had 1 short hair 2 wired hair and they lived 18 and 19 years old. Now we have a 22 year old long hair Schatzi Dachshund. ❤ respect and love the Dachshund 🥰
