Is there a way to produce more variegation from this cutting? I have a big monstera that recently put out a single leaf with a spot of light green variation and I want to try to use it to produce more
@plantedmind13 күн бұрын
What I did, I cut out the variegated leave with node and propagated. Must worn you that some just died. I tried on another plant to cut at the point (node) where she gave me no variegation and it resulted in variegated leaves but a lot smaller, so when it put about 3 leaves (small), I have cut them at the node and propagated them and had a new smaller version of that plant.

That's Monstera acacoyaguensis. The pattern of fenestrations and the wavy leaf margins are quite distinctive. Esqueleto has deeper grooves over its veins and the fenestrations are more uniform, with big ones reaching almost to the edge and smaller ones close to the midrib.

I agree with you, I haven’t read the label, and it says so on the label! I went with what the owner told me and unfortunately I haven’t bought it 🌱

I have a lot of plants but never an anthurium yet! Do they need high humidity? Do you have any tips for keeping them happy?
@plantedmindАй бұрын
They are tricky plants and they love humidity! I buy them and keep them in my bathroom for a while then I move them to my rooms. They love light(indirect) and they love water. I have two of the same but water habits are different (although bought them at the same time from the same store). All my new plants stay together until I figure them out and then I put them in different spots according to their preferences.

This is a nice way and is time consuming too… with over 300 plants that will take quite some time

Just absolutely dreamy and phenomenal! I had no idea it gets even better with red flowers. Just wow. Mine is smaller but perfect, as when I see a new leaf come in, I position the plant toward the light where an open space is, so it will be forced to grow in that direction, then rotate it evenly once a week if it's not growing a new leaf. I see now it has a vine its growing. Wow, what am I gonna do with it growing upward? So I looked up what it would look like if grown high. Didn't find any, but yours that is the highest, that has about a foot of stem. It is just huge and lovely. I definitely would put it in a pot 3 times as big since it's already big. That would give it room to grow, and first untangle a few roots. That is the most enjoyable calming time to whittle away at soil, just poking carefully with a bamboo shrimp skewer. You could probably get several hours of enjoyment out of that, if one can be patient enough. You can get a dropcloth and let the soil fall on it. Or if the leaves would break in laying down, you could prop it on a pedestool for the leaves to have more room to hang, and let the soil fall as you untangle a little. I remove the entire old soil as least once after getting it from the store to make sure it has no root rot on it, then I know my chunky soil is around it for the next repotting, so don't have to remove as much soil. Maybe half. Then it will have room to grow even more monstrous. I have a giant Foxtail Fern in a literal trash can to find a pot big enough. It billows over the sides and is so happy. Its great to see your proud smile for such an amazing plant! I keep looking at mine more and more, and assumed you might like to read a more longish reply, having the same love for such a gorgeous plant. Yours must have costed hundreds. It is truly great to see a large size out there and what mine would grow into. I suppose I should start thinking of a support pole soon. I wonder what lighting you use. There’s those ring lights on Temu with an extendable pole many feet high that could work good for yours, and where it can be programmed to come on automatically. Thank you for the great video!

Nice but not rare. One of them had burnt or dry foliage. That was shop I guess. More difficult to keep happy except for the mother-in-laws tongue, they are easy to keep. Most important, you love plants❤

Nice plants. But i am not sure that one is a Philodendron Painted Lady, which should be a cultivar of the species Philodendron erubescens. The leaf shape and length/proportions is different. But it is very nice.

I just researched it and it could be a marmalade… I will check in the morning the new leaf… I think it’s orange which will make it marmalade … also the leaves are spade like! Interesting- thank you for pointing that out- learning something new every day 🌱
