Landon, I know you are now a successful attorney, but I hope you are still playing piano for our Lord. You are truly blessed with a gift.

Love this! And so thankful the director is using the young pianist! He is talented and serving the Lord. Sometimes in churches the older pianists don't want to give up their position or train up or mentor young musicians. Someone gave me a chance when I was 16 and I've been playing in church for 40 years. Now I play every now and then and help with special services. The pianist at my church and keyboard players are in their 20s!!!! God's church is marching on!

I love the old hymns and wish churches would still use them. Many do slides now and have left the hymns behind.

The state of many Churches today is pitiful. They have brought the ways of the World into God's House.

My dad began a new pastor at a church that didn't have the redback hymnal. He loaded up his car and drove to Dayton Tennessee to the Winsett Publishing Company and bought cases of redback. Good scriptural messages in these songs.

I cannot see what piano this is but Baldwin Pianos are well known for their deep deep bass. I can say it surely does, because I have a Baldwin. It's very rich, mellow with an outstanding bass sound.

Looks to me to be a Yamaha Grand piano! I've fallen love with every Yamaha piano that I've ever played; from the 36" spinet to that 9 foot concert Grand. Yamaha pianos either upright or Grand have the same consistent touch, the same moderately bright singing quality in each piano they build. I've never played a Yamaha I didn't love!!!

The church I was saved in built a larger building, and the original is no longer a church. By the Grace of God, if I could get in there, I believe I could get within feet of where the alter was in 1973, specifically the right corner.

Landon, I have no idea if you still check this account. I hope you do, because I want you to know what a blessing you've been to me. I'm a friend of Tracey Phillips, and for a short while took lessons from Eloise. I was a professional pianist in gospel music for many years, with several top tier groups. I was around more talent every night than secular music could ever hope to see. But you have a special talent. So clean, so confident and polished: classic choir piano, done perfectly. Lucky is the choir you play for. I know you're now a practicing attorney, but I sincerely hope you're still playing. It would be a tragedy for you not to share your talent. God bless you, Landon. Wishing you all the best, from a fellow (admiring) pianist.

4th time i have pleaded. will someone please let me know where i can get the song book. i was going to get it for me as a christmas gift. please, someone let me know. i play a pretty good piano, and i'm proficient in ear and harmony, in addition to sightsinging. i hate to keep going back to these, in order to write out the music. i love the stamps-baxter songs, and many of these patter songs i've heard in church of Christ singings and brush arbors, when i was a child. i have heard them at the pentecostal camp grounds, where my grandaddy would take me, so i could listen to the quartets and the congregational singing. we sat in the truck, and i had to promise not to get upset or afraid, if someone began running, clapping, or dancing. he never mentioned that some would jump over benches and out of the windows. the campgrounds backed our property, divided by a huge cudzu ditch, but it was still about two miles, but you could go back to the ditch and hear them sing. it was just good old gospel singing, southern. i was a visiting roman catholic from chicago, and the other side was high church episcopalian. grandpts were members of the church of Christ, and brother they knew shaped notes, how to sing the do, re, me's, words and intervals. so, i was in a musical paradise---huge pipe organ in a cathedral church, to a parish episcopal, which pd a professional choir to sing and do anglican chant, and a church of Christ that had around 850 in church each Sunday. what a learning curve. now, can i get this hymnal, please, it would mean so much. btw, i use to go right in front of gardendale baptist and irondale, too, on my way to mountainbrook and hoover, and inverness. beautiful areas. i lived there for two years, but returned to memphis to go to medical center and school.
