What impact do motivational speeches have on inspiring individuals, and how does the comedic portrayal of characters like Matt Foley on "Saturday Night Live" highlight the cultural significance and humor in motivational speaking?
@windbag19803 күн бұрын
What a fantastic question! That would be a great topic for a roundtable discussion. Interestingly, the self-help/motivation industry constantly moves between being celebrated and mocked in our culture. The usefulness of motivational speeches is tied to the goal of the specific motivation, in my thinking. It gets a little weird when it becomes a product unto itself. I would welcome your thoughts on the matter! Thank you for sharing this great question.

We have a picture in Daniel Chpt. 3 of the Church (main harvest) going through the fire (tribulation period) when the 3 hebrews are thrown into the fiery furness for not bowing down to the 666 cubits high image the king had made. There was another person in the fire with the 3 hebrews "likend unto the son of God" (Read Daniel 3:24-25) The manchild in Rev 12:5 are those in Rev 3:10. the 1st fruits will be accounted worthy to escape the hour of trial that comes on all the world to try those on the earth because they pleased God.

Thanks so much for this incredibly helpful and encouraging discussion. Such a blessing. I’ve longed to move back to Colorado, but over the past few years all I was finding was reformed churches or mega churches on the Front Range. It’s been disheartening in Indiana to find so many churches have been seduced by the NAR movement and reformed theology. But this is deeply encouraging that free grace is being taught in my favorite state! Thanks again and keep up the good work, gents.

How does a willful sinner get saved? I know someone who is living in sin (fornicating) and is wresting with his situation and knows God disapproves of all sin, especially willful sin. He wants to get right with God so I’m wondering what to tell him. That he needs to move out, i.e. repent from his deliberate sin, then he’ll be forgiven. Is that correct? If anyone has any thoughts I’d appreciate them!
@windbag19802 ай бұрын
Hi there! This is an excellent question. All people are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. We all continue to struggle with sin, and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. For your part, you can encourage your brother in the Lord by helping him understand what the Bible has to say about fornication and about how this is ultimately harmful to him, those he is involved with, and most importantly, his relationship with the Lord. Galatians 6:1-4 is a great guide to help others who are entangled in sin. Thank you for your comment and please feel free to reply! Blessings!

As much as I love J.B Hixon, when I got to the point where they said, that if you can't find a good Bible believing church, then go to the nearest one and pray that you will be a good influence on them.( Wrong); the Bible says "bad company corrupts good character" why would you knowingly go into a theologically corrupt environment, with the hope that YOU'LL change THEM ? The Bible clearly states that you are NOT to be unequally Yoked with unbelievers..for what fellowship does light have with darkness"? I've been a Christian for 30 years and this teaching holds regardless if that connection involves romantic relationships, business ties, friendships and importantly, who you worship with. Over time, the righteous person will become corrupted..not the other way around. #2, he said plant a new church... I'm a 60 year old woman, who is single, has medical disabilities and is on a fixed income ...start my own church ? Are women supposed to be planting and heading up new churches ? According to the New Testament,that is forbidden . Only men should be church leaders. #3. he said the last option is to move, in order to find a better church. How is a person whose retired, disabled and on a fixed income supposed to do that ? Regardless if you're a man or woman, being disabled, makes that extremely challenging . Normally, I enjoy these podcasts, but your so-called options for finding a theologically sound church, are UNBiblically sound and unfeasible for people who are unmarried or don't have the economic means. A good start,would be to teach young men,to start being the leaders, protectors and innovators that God intended for them to be.. Too many men these days, even in the church, are weak minded, lazy and are not the strong role models that God ordered them to be. We have a lack of true Godly men. That is where the problem needs to be addressed.

Found Bradley on a podcast speaking with JB Hixson , an outstanding presentation of a most often missed reality of the cost of supernatural revelation from The Lord and it’s this……… Satan is coming after you with all he has because that person is being used to glorify God and help people to know The Lord in a intimate way just as he desires. I imagine that when Paul was confronted by The Lord Jesus that day and afterward he is in Damascus sitting there for three days with no food or water blind he is saying to himself how did I miss this. Pharisees were required to know the Torah word for word and I believe Paul may have known the entire Tanak word for word as he was a brilliant man intellectually (Thus a chosen vessel Jesus said he was to Annias). Paul is my favourite Bible hero, described as diminutive and feeble in person but was unstoppable by Satan even with a thorn in the flesh(Fallen Angel personally assigned to torment him with a possible eye issues) because of those great revelations so he would not become prideful. Thoroughly enjoyed this teaching.

I was saved in early 1988 and my job involved a great deal of traveling by car to get to my various clients. Back then, living in Los Angeles County, there were a couple of AM Christian radio stations to listen to. There was one pastor of a large church in Orange County CA who, I thought, was a very gifted teacher of Scripture. I wish I could remember his name, but what I am responding to is the comment about putting pastors/teachers on a pedestal. One day I was listening to the broadcast and he announced, from the pulpit, that he was stepping down and, at the advice of the church elders, taking himself out of the ministry for two years to receive counseling and pray for Spiritual restoration. He even admitted to his sin and, though he kept the woman's name a secret, told his congregation that he had an affair with the woman. He was very transparent and it was evident that he was truly sorry for the pain he caused not only to his wife and family, and to the woman, but to those who trusted him as their pastor. I was stunned to hear this confession from a man I had apparently placed on a pedestal, though I hadn't realized it until that moment. I'm grateful to God that I was made aware of the amount of faith I had placed in a person early in my Christian walk. I still had to wade through the minefield of false teachers as I grew stronger in my walk, and I recall many people I initially thought were teachers of God's word, not their own! I'm still cautious whenever I find someone else on my KZbin stream, but I have also learned a valuable lesson in that no one is perfect, not one. I have become a Berean and I take the time to question anything that the Holy Spirit causes me to question, because only His Divinely Inspired Word is true.

The gospel that is taught to many people today has been reduced down to just "faith alone". This false gospel of "faith alone" has made following the commandments of Christ null and void. Obeying His commandments have been eliminated from the gospel and have been made subsequent and optional to salvation. Walking in the Spirit has been made optional as well. This false gospel of "faith alone" changes what Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 - For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Instead of following the biblical teaching on salvation in Christ, they follow Satan's false gospel which tells them that they can be saved by "faith alone", apart from having to keep the commandments of Christ. By teaching that we do NOT need to keep the commandments(plural) of Christ as the gospel, the saving power of the gospel has been neutralized. The end result is that millions of people have been deceived by Satan's masterpiece into thinking they have eternal life in Christ when they actually do not.

❇️❇️"Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures".❇️❇️ 1) Everyone is a sinner, missing the mark of God’s perfection.😕 2) The result and penalty of sin is death (in lake of fire) You have a sin debt to pay.⚰️💣 3) Not only is God perfect, but the eternal heaven is also perfect place. No sin could enter there. Man must be perfectly righteous (righteous as God is, not just being good enough) to go to heaven. 🚫 4) Nothing man could do could save him or help save him 🚫- For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast…. ✅🙂 5) Christ made a complete payment for all sin (our sin debt paid in full) and offer His Righteousness-🎁🎁 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God…... 6) 🩸Christ paid the price by shedding His blood, the atonement of our sins. The blood pays for your forgiveness🩸🩸 7) All man must do to be saved is to Believe Jesus was the Lord who paid for all his sin. 💐Understand you are a sinner & Receive Christ as his Saviour💐. God gives eternal life only to those who will accept it by faith. 🧎♀️🧎 Salvation cannot be earned by your WORKS, or what you do, but rather by FAITH. But the question arises: Faith in What⁉️ 🤷♀️ 🛑The answer is simple - by faith in the shed blood and finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross when He died in your place for your sins! 🛑🛑"Salvation is in Christ alone, by Faith alone through His Blood alone".🛑🛑 Will you 🫵 accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour today by simple childlike faith from the heart, trusting only in his shed blood to save your soul from hell? 🙏🙏

When I watched a video of Billy Graham and Robert Schuller agreeing that there is more than one way to God than Jesus, Billy said Muslims, Buddhists, etc. are all believing in Jesus whether they know it or not............talk about "puzzling" .....🙄. I am 75 years old and was raised on the Bible verse by verse and to take it all literally. That's how I knew coming to the Lord Jesus Christ as an abject sinner believing He paid for my sins and would forgive me and make me "into a new creature in Christ" was the only way to the Father. I was born again in September of 1978 and have never been the same person since then. Life has not been a picnic but my worst day as a born again Christian is far and away better than my best day as a "....lost, an undone person without Christ and without God in the world." As I grew up in the 1950's and '60's most of the pastors, teachers I sat under told us to turn in our Bibles to the scripture he would be preaching/teaching on. We were encouraged to read the Bible well to make sure the preacher/teacher was teaching the Bible correctly according to the Bible. I have done that all of my life and that is how I know who to listen to and who not to listen to. On living a sinful life because Jesus did it all, what I and many others have found is that, once we came to the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ seeking forgiveness from and by Him, we couldn't "enjoy", be comfortable or, many times, just weren't attracted to outright sinning. For me, it became more of the sins of selfishness, resentment, and things that don't show that much on the outside but I hate within myself. "In me, that is in my flesh, dwelleth NO good thing..." I am with Paul on that!!!
