Terrible amateurish sound quality at the beginning. I don't know how you can upload a video with such poor sound.
@pdhowler
@pdhowler 9 күн бұрын
Without any further details I imagine you are referring to the background noise that seems to be picking up around 40 to 50 seconds into the video? Easy. That was an airplane flying nearby ... I think it flew there twice ... it was so frustrating but after trying this recording two times I was tired of trying again. Noise removal helped a little bit but there's only so much you can do. Unless you have advanced tools. I always try to level the sound level to about -3 decibel and then I run a noise removal filter just for the background noise but this one was just too noisy to be eliminated. In a perfect world I would have all the equipment with me and headsets with microphone that only picks up my voice. Can't always live in luxury. But I agree it could be better if there was time to justify it. I hope it was a good use anyway and the technique was understood.

The easiest way is using the grid system. You make each of the edges touch a line of the grid and then it will be even. No, we've never had the Shift to make a perfect circle. Edit: Lol, I should have watched the whole video! That is what you said.

While it's available as part of PD howler I wonder if some viewers would prefer to have it as a standalone. What tools do you use and would it be enough to save the result in clipboard as well as start with an image coming from clipboard?

Hello! What is your relationship with Curvy 3d? I saw the name dogwaffle in it and I see you have videos on the pd howler channel about curvy.
@pdhowler
@pdhowler 28 күн бұрын
I like Curvy3d. Simon dare has created a connection to project dogwaffle. I have not tested it recently with PD howler but essentially it establishes a connection between the two programs so for example you can take an image from dogwaffle into curvy 3D and have it used as a texture map or bump map or curvy displacement map. I seem to recall it also uses the alpha channel to identify holes. And I think there are ways to get some content from curvy back into dogwaffle. If you have both curvy 3D and some version of dogwaffle please let us know right here how well they work together and what versions of the two softwares they are

With howler 2024 we had introduced a new reminder for waveform obj files. Even though it is a little incomplete and lacks the ray tracing for shadows it is quite usable and possibly a nice companion to curvy 3D. I recommend you create a simple glass or joystick and save it as obj file and see if it will import and render. You can then fiddle with some of the material properties and lighting Which version of curvy 3D do you currently use?

@@pdhowler We currently have PD Howler 11 and Curvy 3-4-5. But I haven't really delved into it yet. I used PD HOWLER's light effect on images for game development, which creates a bump and sparkle effect. That's why I liked it a lot and although it has many other useful functions, I couldn't use it very much, I'm not really good at more serious drawing programs. I also like Curby because it approaches modeling in a rather unique way, and 5 already has a polygon mode, although I haven't even fully experienced Curvy, because what I've learned from it I've since forgotten.

I like curvy 3D immediately when I saw it because it is kind of a way to do 3D when you have a 2d illustrator mind. Usual profile curves and cross-sections and it does the rest to build the 3D surfaces. Beyond that it now also does much more with subdivision surfaces. With adaptive variable resolution based on curvature if I remember. Something that Simon put in long ago and then took back out because many systems didn't have enough RAM to handle it but now it's good to have it back .... Sculptris was one of the first programs to have similar. But cozy had it before that. I think I might be also had very similar capabilities but I don't know if it dynamically adapted to subdivision levels. Definitely a great set of tools with curvy 3d.

What is the minimum version / build of PD Howler to use VBScript?
@pdhowler
@pdhowler 3 ай бұрын
not really sure, I'll have to ask Dan. I'll get back when I find out. I do know that there are two things at play. VB scripting support, and the API. You can use the API in other ways, such as C++. As for VB scripting I think it's been around for a while. If you can see the Scripts submenu in the Filter menu, your version has it. You can also see a VBScripts subdirectory where Howler or PD Artist is installed.. Which version do you have? I can install it too and see the subdir if you want. Or just buy the current latest at 50% off through Bastille Day ;-)

Awesome program. I recently stumbled upon your program on a website about retro CGI. I checked the how to download PD Howler on your website unfortunately it's not compatible with my OS (Windows 7). It says I can't install because I don't have SP1 installed. I tried searching for older versions for my 2012 PC but there aren't any available. Would it be possible to have a a older version of this program? A demo or full version would suffice. I'll mainly use it for learning and painting over 3D. Thank you so much if you ever reply to this.

I know it's a stupid question but how to export images with a transparent background? it can be done? I can't figure out the way
@pdhowler
@pdhowler 10 ай бұрын
Yes you can if you have a selection mask. Whether it will be transparent or not is a matter of interpretation by the other program. In order to have a pixel appear transparent it has to have an alpha value. There is no automatic Alpha Channel but you do have Alpha in the selection. Then you can save it as a PNG Ford TGA for example with 32-bit to include the elephant Channel. Another place or another way to do it is to save the image you have in the custom brush. That one is rgba. For example if you paint with the particle brushes in the 1st of the four modes known as optipustics, there are several styles and some of them include Alpha going along the particle paths automatically. You can then easily save that in such a way that the painted brush Strokes will appear opaque in many programs for example if you use the image as a texture map on a billboard polygon in 3D.
@cavalieragilulfo3794
@cavalieragilulfo3794 10 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but I didn't understand anything of your explanation, I'll give a practical example: I want to make a drawing with branches, I simply want to export these branches as a PNG with a transparent background, is it possible to do it in a simple way? in other programs you just need to deselect the background, but in pd artist the white background always remains.
@pdhowler
@pdhowler 10 ай бұрын
There are some options in the custom brush settings that allow drawing RGB plus Alpha. Set the lights to do it but it depends on how many brush Strokes you're going to use. In some cases it's easier to just paint on a solid background color like white or blue and then do a selection of that color and then invert the selection and now you have the branch and the tree selected and you can save this as a PNG

Hi Dan, I tried the 3d renderer out last week and it is really great. Mabye an option to render a depth map from the 3d object would be useful as well, not sure if possible but it would be useful for VFX depth and mist effects and CNC users etc.
