50:40 So, so typical. A Liberal Party state government ripping away a valuable asset to the public, which the public were giving plenty of use to the service, but the government tells bull-shit stories of lack of patronage to justify their skulduggery. Fast-forward to Xmas night, 2014 and the very same dirty tricks by a *treacherous* party of *filthy-rotten traitors,* the Liberal Party!

CPH-7 is, together with CPH1 and 3, part of the Rail Motor Society collection at Paterson.
@neilforbes416Ай бұрын
46:04 The rail motor is a CPH-class "Tin Hare", one of several such units dating back to 1923. Used as single cars or tied two or three together, depending on whether it was peak-hour or not.

28:55 One of the *last* service runs for the Stockton Vehicular Ferries, or "Punts" as we knew them. From that time onwards there'd be no more long queues of cars along Fullerton Street from Punt Road(now "Old Punt Road") all the way up past Pembroke Street and, at times stretching almost to Corroba Oval football ground(where the "real" football was played).

27:10 Foot passengers..... that was the last "hurrah" for the old "punts!"
@neilforbes416Ай бұрын
25:49 That punt would not have been carrying cars if it were going to pass under the new bridge on 1st November, 1971. It was on a regular run across to Stockton.
@neilforbes416Ай бұрын
23:26 That's not Hunter Street, that's the Hamilton Bus Depot. My uncle, Dave Forbes worked there and lived at Mayfield.
@neilforbes416Ай бұрын
15:39 Those rail motors were not just the 620s There were also the 720s. The 620s had the engine and the 720s were trailers but also had a driver's cabin so as to remove the need to turn everything around for a return run. The driver simply walked through the set from one end to the other and drove the rail motor set from the other end. The type of rail motor sets ran from the 600/700 class through to the 660/760 class that were finally retired in 2007.

6:27 That's something I haven't seen in *YONKS!* The old "Darks Ice & Cold Storage" building across from, and just slightly east of the punt wharf on Wharf Road.

2:42 Here's one that wasn't seen all that often, indeed it was rarely used. It was the "Arthur C. Walter".
@neilforbes416Ай бұрын
"Edith Walter" was indeed part of the Walters' passenger ferry fleet that operated from a point across Fullerton Street and just a short distance south of the Boatrowers Hotel, indeed, across the road from Wescott nursing home(as it is today). There was the "Edith Walter", the "John H. Walter", the "Stockton" and another couple I can't recall the names thereof. I rode on these ferries going to Newcastle to attend high school from 1968 to 1970 and for several years thereafter.

The M1 / F3 crossing is not actually the first of Mooney Mooney Creek. The old Pacific Highway has a crossing about 300m downstream from this.
