She was the UK. I do feel sad she is gone but I am more sad that she had to endure the pain of the last couple of years. The media and the public held her to that commitment of service until the end. Maybe if we hadn’t she may not have had to endure that pain. There will never be another. I don’t know what that means for the monarchy but a lot of countries like Australia didn’t want to remove her as head of state while she was alive. That may change soon.

Wow. I've never seen such humongous mutes. I didn't even think brass that low would make a useful sound with a mute. And they were all playing soft, so I couldn't even tell what sound it was making. Well, one learns new things every day. 🙂

@@iwasglad122 Although I now live in one of England's ancient Cathedral cities. My family didn't have any English connections. The 'anthem' was concocted by Handel, grovelling for recognition from the German George, added the ghastly verse about the Jacobean Scots(never sung) can't think why, we have so many English nationalists around these days. Musically, as an anthem, it is truly crap.

Interesting to see another Soprano cornet in the front row. Even the best bands use some tricks:)
@nicolasclerc198611 ай бұрын
It's not that unusual in contests that allows more players than the strict formation. Compositions have become more demanding on the upper register. A 2nd soprano may often be used to help the upper solo cornet parts, so that the principal can focus more on the solo parts. He can also assist the "main" soprano to let him shine on the important stuff. From ancient times is especially demanding.

What a delight to discover this on KZbin. I have listened to this work on the organ since my youth. I had a much-loved LP of it being played on the organ of Ripon Cathedral by Ronald Perrin back in the 1970s, if I remember correctly. It's a magnificent work, quite symphonic really.
