@@smiddlyrabone8900 Jesus says ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28… I’m so sorry about your disease and pain, but elsewhere in the Bible it says “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. Draw close to God in prayer. I’m so sorry. Know that this life is momentary and passing and that next is eternal. I just want to say again that you have so much to live for, and so many people care about you, as you just said your mother absolutely does. If you ever want to talk I’m available!

Even though the upload is only of one sequence from Summer of decision [1959], its a great pleasure to watch the super-talented Suzanne Pleshette before she could reach top stardom. She had one screen outing with Jerry Lewis in The Geisha Boy circa 1958, after which she went back to the stage and racked up one plaudit after another. I could swear the guy with her in this short upload is handsome, Sean Garrison, the hero of Moment to moment. But, I could be wrong. A great and rare find on one of the world's top favourites, Ms. Suzanne Pleshette.

What an incredible conversation! When I mention the details of the forced removal I find many are shocked. When I mention the role of social workers in this I am generally met with a confused look. Thank you so much for posting this! Enjoyed every word!
@janleewong8123 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dr. Park and Dr. Smith Brice for bringing this important conversation to light. Any perspective on historical social workers should take into account the professionalism of social work or the absence thereof. Formal university level social work education began in the early twentieth century and by mid century was established across the country but graduated a small number of professional social workers. It's likely that the majority of "social workers" employed at the county level were non-degreed social workers without formal social work education and unfamiliar with social work ethics. While the situation today is quite different with thousands of social work programs and a strong NASW Code of Ethics, the issues remain the same regarding how to fight an unjust system from within. Also, societal and cultural racism remains as strong as ever despite decades of civil rights work and education. The Academy's role in researching how to fight injustice and racism as well as teaching it to social workers is critical to making progress in these areas.

Please stop the myth of only older people getting TN. Children get this, young people get this, injuries cause this at any age.

@@LD-uz5pc MVA, dental work, any injury to head, face, teeth, certain piercings, and some ppl just develop the condition with no root cause.

This is more common than we know. You can only do so much ...sometimes the family is aware of the problem but I susoect has given up because its too uncomfortable to discuss and the person is in denial that there is a problem. And will not address it with anyone. Would have been nice if it had not been cut off.

it saddens me (I am an MSW) that there even needs to be this discussion among professionals . . . I always worked (am now retired) with one major principle in mind . . . Person In Their Environment. Which means, at least for me, that the only ethical way to assist someone is to first understand where they are coming from - including spiritually. When I met new clients I always asked if they had a particular spiritual practice or belief and would ask how that played into whatever we were discussing. If they were JW, I would work within that framework, LDS - the same thing, aetheist likewise, along with anything else. It would be unethical for me to do anything less. So I find it almost appalling that someone needed to address it. My personal beliefs should NEVER influence how I treat or direct a client . . . period!!

An excellent vignette. The social worker needed to delve into the issue of the client's use 0f wine. Perhaps not enough time in the interview unfortunately. The social worker might have been able to tie this into the comments the client made about being alone.
