As a conservative person, MASH speaks to common sense and humaneness (is there such a word? I guess there is, since my ever-watchful computer isn't putting in anything to correct me). I think MASH's humane quality is why my mother adored the show, and why millions still do love it.

There is a 1953 film about life in a MASH, called "Battle Circus". In many ways, it's a very moving story. I think anyone who likes M*A*S*H will like Battle Circus, too.

About 15 years after this, I saw a revival of the play The Odd Couple starring Jamie Farr and William Christopher. It was a great thrill to be so physically close to these actors I had admired for years.

I LOVED watching MASH. STILL Do. Growing up it was so exciting when it would come on at 1030pm. I wasn't supposed to be up watching it but if I "behaved" I was awarded with the privilege. ❤❤❤❤

NEVER get caught up in TV fantasy land: In 1996, Morgan was charged with beating his wife. He avoided jail time, and the criminal wife beating charge was dropped in 1997 when he agreed to attend anger management sessions.

Mash je prostě nejlepší televizní podívaná všech dob. Točí se výborné seriály i dnes, ale toto už nevzniká. To je jedinečné dílo. Sleduju to od dětství až po dnes. Mám celé série a sleduji to každý den. Každý den několik dílů. A světe div se, vůbec mě to nepřestalo bavit.

First of all, so called "Harry Morgan" wasn't his real name. There was nothing wrong with his actual birth name of Harry Bratsberg. Most likely the change was made as the result of a greedy Studio or Business Manager, with perceived notions of greater recognition accompanied with monetary gains? In reality, it's also shows blatant disrespect for one's parents & their family heritage, just to possibly obtain (not earn) a greater buck?! The ONLY reason a name change should be done, is for a woman when she gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her name, then she doesn't accept the sanctity of marriage.

Charles was a way more layered character than Frank Burns, and a much better fit. No fault to Larry Linville though,he worked with what they gave him.

Always interesting how an actor can bring himself into a character without the character being him - such as with the love of classical music. And his privacy seems to have borne out in how he shied away, best I can tell, from all the post-MASH events. There are no clips of him in any of the retrospectives or archives shows commenting on the show or his character or his role in it which I always found odd and a bit disingenuous particularly since he made such a great contribution and the show did so much for him.

Through the 11 years Hot Lips became Margaret and then Loretta. A lovely woman and a fine actress who took a difficult one dimensional 'sex pot' role and turned it into a great character of depth.

Liked the show. Didn’t like the Hunnicut character. He seemed to try too hard to be funny. When his scenes called for him to be upset or mean, he just went too overboard for me. Irritating 🙄. The character seemed to brown nose Hawkeye too much where Trapper was more funny and seemed more real of a character when he sparred with Hawkeye. The BJ character was just off putting to me. Especially loved Winchester! He blended in quite well. I don’t think that Mike Farrell had as much acting experience under his belt as the other cast. That may have been the problem. He just tried to hard. I didn’t like the character at all. Wish Wayne would have stayed. He was more seasoned as an actor and fit the character like a glove. Loved Loretta too! Such a pretty lady. But Klinger and Radar were my favorites! Jamie’s comedic talent was excellent! So was Frank Burns’ talent. Mike, to me, needed more training as an actor. At least that’s how it seemed to me.

Agree! I love the originals, but the replacements not only helped to improve dynamics, but those improvements kept the show going as long as it did. These characters stopped it from stagnating. Characters like Frank, and to a lesser degree even Trapper, lacked the depth needed to last 11 seasons and still remain compelling imo. Excellently done.

I was 9 going on 10 a few months later. I recall the episode was close to ending, I got up went to my room to get a book so I can hide my face so my parents wouldn't see me crying at the end. We were lucky to have cable at the time to see it since we lived in an area without a CBS affiliate. Still watch the reruns today.
