Hello Larry , great video. What if you are 2 yards off the green level lie on green pin is 15 yards away. Are you still going to use the bounce on a 8 or 7 iron and maybe hit ground slightly behind ball for this chip shot ? Thank you
@LarryCheungGolf20 күн бұрын
i rather you get very good with one wedge before using a 2nd wedge, wouldn't advise using 8 or 7 iron unless youve done it regularly, u can just use a normal wedge and just play a lower shot to play the run =)

Played with this swing for several years and then changed to a more conventional about a year and a half ago. Have some back issues so figured it would help since a more square to square swing involves a bit more rotation. Went from a 8 to 13 handicap. Going back to a square to square back be dammed 😅

That old instruction of early shift to the left killed my game over the decades, Larry - I honestly don't know how I played to a low, single figure handicap... Thanks! William

What are the benefits of a steep back swing?
@BawkzersАй бұрын
It allows you to shallow the club easier on the downswing, concept is steep up, shallow down. Golf is a game of opposites and when you understand that concept it becomes easier. Some people have one plane swings and that works but for the most part, amateurs can learn a better golf swing by doing this.
@LarryCheungGolfАй бұрын
bawkzers is correct, typically if you go up steep in the backswing, it'd be easier to shallow on the way down and most amateur players would swing better by shooting towards this concept =)
@Randy-JАй бұрын
Not sure why but last weekend I started to really shallow out my back swing. A buddy pointed it out and I tried to fix it. I don't know why or how it made its way into my swing.
@Peter-cx7qyАй бұрын
People tend to lift the club up steeply because they don't have enough shoulder tilt to allow the arms to gain height correctly with normal rotation.

Thanks for clearing up how trail leg should be positioned in the backswing.

“If the wrists are loaded properly”. Ahah moment. Combined with the downhinge I learned from your videos last year has really helped develop my swing.

I have seen so many people talk about pulling the hands down, or pulling a chain down and it is always wrong if done excessively. As Larry correctly shows all that happens is the shaft steepens too early and in the worst cases the club head momentum results in the head coming over the top of the shaft. Obviously the hands do have to move down, otherwise you cannot hit the ball(!), but it is when in the downswing that happens and, as Larry says, gently rather than with force I have had great results with the first move of the hands in the downswing being forward (and therefore the trail shoulder moving forwards) which shallows out the shaft and gives me the room to swing down and left (I am a right handed golfer). Probably not the Larry approved method, but it has worked for me
@LarryCheungGolfАй бұрын
some of my clients have hands outwards as the first move, its totally fine as long as it fits the rest of the movement =)
@sdrum13Ай бұрын
My swing thought to help with this move is getting my hands farther away from the target line/ball when the arms drop.

Hey Larry. This series is what began my attempt to retool my 50 year old swing a few years ago. It completely changed it for the better! I have tried to advise new golfers to begin with these concepts before wailing away at hitting drivers as far as they can. I was wondering if your teaching concepts have changed at all or if everything in this series still applies today. I really think it would be a great series to re-upload as content for beginners or rebuilders such as myself. Thanks for all your work over the years.
@LarryCheungGolfАй бұрын
this is very good foundation to build off it and i still believe in this =)
@iggywhiskersАй бұрын
@@LarryCheungGolf I believe in it too. I haven’t seen a better foundation out there. Starting there and combining with your other content will result in a repeatable, accurate swing. Online or in person coaching with you would speed up the progress greatly. Thank you Larry for the work you put into your channel.

3 minutes and 23 seconds of a concise, to the point discussion of the preference of being laid off at top of the swing. It just doesn’t get any clearer. I began yesterday drilling the turn back with a club across my chest at home. And then used our COOP’s indoor pickle ball court to drill on the take away you explained recently by hitting foam balls. It went very well and I will continue to implement this and your new KZbin content to transform my swing in the off season. I tell everyone in my golf world to subscribe to Larry Cheung Golf if they truly want to hit a golf ball with joy. And who doesn’t want to do that? I’m 68 and it’s never too late to transform the errors of 55 years of golfing. Thanks again and again Larry.

I don't seem to achieve that waiter's tray position with my right hand. Presumably it will help to shallow the club in the downswing, as I am quite steep especially with driver.
@LarryCheungGolfАй бұрын
the tray position will increase the changes of you shallowing in the downswing =)

Hey Larry, Is there any chance you could put these videos into their own KZbin Playlist? This will make it easier to see the order and go forward / backwards through the videos. Thank you.
