It is very sad that when the world needs satire the most, the world is least receptive to satire. This is real, unvarnished satire. Satire is the very soul of a healthy society, and of a functional and advancing civilization. From The Merry Pranksters to The Cacophony Society, satire flourished in the obscured corners of recently passed contemporary culture. It was there and it was vibrant, even when no one was listening, which was most of time. The "puzzling evidence" of this is the fact that these videos have been up for over a decade, and have received only a minimal number of views and reviews. Even in the best of times, satire is threatening and dangerous. That is its function: to challenge and shame the self-important and self possessed and those whose hands rest upon the levers of power. Satire, while it may never thrive, is only possible when the society within which it is imbedded is comfortable, complacent, and smug while it wallows in hubris. Today, satire is no longer possible, because the underpinnings of that smug, self-satisfied, dismissive society some of us who remain grew up in, are dissolving beneath our feet. Everyone is afraid. Everyone feels threatened. Everyone is hyper-vigilant: on the lookout for some personal slight or offense to the now insubstantial beliefs and values they have based their lives and expectations upon. As a result, everyone is potentially dangerous. And satirists are most at risk. So satirists are now afraid. Pranks of the like of which were perpetrated by The Merry Pranksters and The Burning Man Project were first given over to the jejune, callow, uneducated and unsophisticated by the very powers most in need of being stung to the core by lampoon, and then run into the ground of irrelevant and shallow childishness until they became useless and pointless exercises in tomfoolery. Then pranks became lame and annoying. With the dawn of the now dangerous, fractious, and uncertain new world divided against itself on every front, pranks will get you killed. Satire will get you ostracized and misjudged. We have witnessed the only paradigm shift there will be, and satire is the bellwether. That bellwether is the sacrificial scapegoat of both the status quo, and of every fractious element within our dysfunctional and declining society. Satire is dead. It will never reappear in any living human's lifetime. Have a nice day. 😶

it lost against the f16 - that is in turn iconic, still highly relevant, one of the most successful planes ever built...

Still say they should have mass-produced it. My guess is that it would have had a better record than the F15

Doubtful. The F-20 would've ended likely sooner than the F-5E, since there wouldn't exactly be a solid production line or logistics chain for it (there only ~3 countries truly interested in the Tigershark, and of course 1 of them [that being Taiwan] was barred from ever buying it multiple times).

1996 This was my first year at bm. During the Helco blaze I was happily trapped inside a luxurious all white cloth tent and space with yummy white rugs and white pillows and beautiful people. Everyone was dressed in white. I sat down on a plush white cloud of pillows and enjoyed everyone and the space during this Helco burn. I could hear the mayhem just outside the tent. When Helco was on fire the tent was glowing inside from the light of the fire. I knew I was missing something special but I made a choice to stay i this dreamland space with dreamy people. These are the hard choices at Burning man even to this day. Thx Helco for a wonderful production.

With slight modification It could well be a formidable tactical combat aircraft today, If upgrades such as modern avionics and engine technology could be installed it would be a beast.
