Hello, So i was searching on KZbin about coolant leakage and found your video and realised that the water pump could actually leak(did not know it happened :), i have a 1998 honda civic that is just disappearing coolant, i check the radiator and coolant reservoir and coolant level goes down in a short amount of time but no crack/leak on the pipes or the radiator, and also no head gasket leak as there are no bubbles seen from the radiator cap and mo smoke from exhaust. So i wanted to ask you, can a water pump coolant leak can easily be identified or do i have to pressure test it? where should i be looking for a coolant leak since there is a timing cover on top of the water pump?

Thanks for your question, when you take off the timing covers, if you see coolant on the inside of the cover, l am going to assume its the water pump leaking. I would start with the covers,mirror and flash light before doing a pressure test. I dont think there is any other part of the cooling system on this side of the block other than the water pump. Thanks for your question,instructions says yes you can go through the sides. Have you tried to use PL construction adhesive to glue pieces of plywood to the underside of the countertop? This was a very common method used in construction for undermount sinks.

I believe you are refering to the bottom trim plate. This plate has 2 screws that fit into slots to hold it on on the ends. The screws are either 2 phillips or plastic slot screws. Thanks for your question, yes in a drainage system it is. If you have to replace a section of piping under ground, a fernco(flexcoupling) is the only way to do it without any play. Hubs like pvc/abs need some play for glueing. I put he flexcoupling on the vent since it would only ever see rain water going down it. Hope that helps.

Its not the distributor cap/rotor. The distributor is run off the cam shaft. Its more than likely an electrical problem,either the ECU or one of the sensors is giving the wrong info to the ECU.

I am installing a similar Samsung dishwasher and It appears the dishwasher controls on this model are on top of the door. If I push it into the cabinet so that the rubber seals along the left and right sides are even with the cabinet front, then the controls are hidden under the counter top. Is this normal? If I pull it out so that the controls on top of the door are showing then the seals are close to 1" in front of the cabinet front! Is this normal and are the controls supposed to be operated while the door is open and then shut?

I'm thinking my coil is bad on my 2000 civic ex. Crank - no start. Got her towed home and fuel pump relay clicks when key is turned, and fuel pump runs. Very weak spark from right end cylinder - will have to check properly again using a spark plug on all 4 plug wires. I had just gotten it rolling smooth again with new front wheel bearings, and new radiator last summer - now this. I'll tell you what, when it rains it pours! Thanks for your comment, if you have a weak spark it sounds like the coil as it changes battery voltage to 50,000 volts for the spark to occur. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask!

I had the same problem after adding a prv. The water services have check valves before the meters which makes it a closed system. A expansion tank was added after the prv and inflated to match the water pressure and it fixed the leaking t&p valve.

Thanks for your question, by our local code 1 shower head requires minimum pipe size 1.5". So this drain is fine based on our code here.

Thanks for your question, water meters are being brought in now. When l filmed this video the water box l showed didnt have a meter. Last year they upgraded the sewer and watermain putting in a meter box. No meter is in yet but it will be coming. This house is older, so unless they are doing work to dig every house up at the sametime, the cost is too much just to put in a meter for every house. Hope that helps.

My first big problem was a pin in the right angle trigger switch fell out. Where in the grass, who know? Lucky, I found someone with the same model on kijiji with dying issues. Tried to switch out the switch assembly but between the corrosion and the special screws, I ended up swapping out the whole fork assembly. (Getting the switch replacement, hoo boy, scarce) Now, having hit things in the past and taller grass, I’ve sent off via Amazon for the fan by the blade (one fin broken) and the insulator that clips the blade, the edges having worn from stress and impact. Parts two weeks to arrival. Really think I should have maybe just got a replacement mower.

I am so glad you showed the you can change the coil out without having to undo the troublesome connector ...were on the same page with not breaking that darn connector.. in attempting to take it apart to service the outer and inner seals on the distributor and replace the heater core hose... I found my connector frozen to the mounting bracket and stuck together as well.. The heater core hose was leaking due to motor oil dripping on it and wearing out the rubber hose from the leaky distributor o ring seal (S)... I could not dismantle the distributor and rebuild it on the bench nor buy a new one and replace it... So I only replaced the outer seal...now I am wondering why the heck did honda put a coolant outlet underneath the distributor where it could possibly leak oil as well as spring a leak in the coolant hose and cause terrible humidity and even coolant spring a leak around where the distributor and wires are... I do not know....but all in all these are great cars you can get a whole lot of miles out of them if you take care of them....

Thanks for your question, the part shown in the video was like $40 Canadian. I would suggest buying the element with fuse. That way when the element goes you have it on hand. For $40 for the element+fuse, it makes no sense not to just buy the whole and save the extra parts for later on. This is the second time on this unit the element had to be changed in like 5 years. Hope that helps.

All I'm finding is an assembly for Samsung dryers (DC97-14486A). But I can't confirm if that will in fact work with my Kenmore dryer. Also, that assembly seems to come with different components depending on what vendor you get it from on Amazon (e.g. in some cases the fuses have different part numbers).

Too many shitty plastic hose and tubing cutters now. Especially hose cutters. They are ALL plastic now and used to be metal. Identical mold form multiple brands just like your typical adjustable wrench now. Before production got moved both had varying designs since each brand made its own.

Thanks for your comment, l think the plastic ones are designed to break. I have had Ridgid, Bow cutters, expensive and they didnt last very long. The Rok that l have is a low end brand that has actually lasted the longest. Just dont cut on the barb of the fitting!!

Old B&D mower was working normally, suddenly stopped. I checked the rectifer with switch on, power seems to be going thru it. There's about half-inch left on the brushes and wires are firmly attached. Is that enough wear to cause a stoppage? I've read elsewhere that worn brushes will cause intermittent running issues at first.

Thanks for you question, a half inch l think is fine, do you notice any burn marks or pitting where the brushes and commutator meet? Is there a lot of debris in the mower that can cause the brushes to make intermittent contact?

@@HomeownerDIY The ends were abit black and curved, but no pitting. When I removed the hood over the motor area, I was surprised to see so much leaves/grass packed in there, but the motor itself looked okay, just a couple small cobwebs that weren't big enough to stop anything. The motor turns freely with the blade. Is there a way to test the brushes to see if power is getting to them? My impression is the electricity turns them into magnets which then spin the motor, so move the brushes out of the motor area and see if they hold a piece of metal?

Have you confirmed power is getting to the motor? A continuity test will tell you this. If yes: Do a continuity test on the brushes as well. Do you notice visually any burn marks or burn smell at the motor?

@@HomeownerDIY I don't know what a continuity test is, but I tested the rectifer according to another video and my meter read 120 AC, and 107 DC. I phoned a Dewalt service center earlier today, and the only thing he could think of was that I had used the wrong power cord (which is true). I'm using light duty 100 foot 16 awg, when I should be using 14 awg. He said this would slowly kill the motor, causing some wire to pop. I asked if there was a way to test if power was getting to the brushes, but he wasn't allowed to give advice that might kill me, lol.

Check out this video for continuity tests: #QTOW# Continuity tests kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpDUZYiCfKtmgtE Probably easiest to take a cord plug it in the mower then use one of the prongs of the cord and test it on the wire going to the brush.Test both wires(both brushes) Make sure the level is pulled so the mower is "on".We are testing to see if power is getting to the brushes. If you were using a 16gauge cord, especially at 100ft, that would be a problem. The wires would get too hot because of resistanace. Please let me know the results.

You can save a lot of time by jumping the t-stat down at the boiler for which ever zone you're testing. Just attach a jumper to the wires or twist them together and put on a wire nut. I prefer the jumper. Then you don't have to keep going up and the stairs.

Thanks for your question, yes after doing a coolant flush l noticed coolant was leaking under the water pump. That is one thing about doing flushes: Leaks can be exposed that sludge was stopping from leaking. The pump itself was still good but might as well put on a brand new one as the other could go any time. Besides a flush video, l also have a coolant leak checking video done on the car that you may want to look at.

I need to do this temporarily during converting to PEX through out. What I want to know if the same tool is used for both rings? Also if you know can the cinch clamp rings be used for both sides?

Thanks for your question, yes pex crimpers can be used for both sides. Only pex crimpers. The rings you see in the pic, they are to be used with this coupling. Do not use any other type of ring. This comes as a system and should be used as a system. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I have the same mower, purchased in 2010, & the only work ever needed was to replace the plastic retaining washer once, & the brushes once. I'm replacing the brushes now again. The video helped to understand the mower & parts & issues, in general. I need just a bit more precise/ exact detail on how a few things are done, in checking wires with the multi-meter, & installing the brushes. I "kind of' "pretty much" get it, but for actually doing the job, (changing brushes) right now, for me, I need more exact, precise details to feel like I'm fully ready to do the job right & without issues. Just a couple more sentences & the video would have been absolutely perfect for me. But for what you did show, I'm thankful for the video.

Thanks for your comment, for the brushe(s) if you pause the video at 9:17, you can see the brush inside its metal housing. The spring keeps tension on the brush. To install you need to compress the spring with your finger. Between 9:17-11:00 I show how to install in the brush. l am sure you are really over thinking this. Thanks for your question,the continous vent(The vent going up) vents the laundry and the tub. If the plumbing system isnt vented(Think of putting a straw in a cup of water and putting your thumb over the end) it will be air locked. Remove your thumb equalizing pressure and the water drains out. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your comment, what you stated is exactly what l did before l took it to the tire shop. That was it didnt work. It wasnt bad this time around because l just did work on it last year or the year before changing the rotors.(l made a video of that as well)

You dont want to carry around a sledge for a flat!! This car isnt driven much and is parked outside all year. Probably the 2 biggest reasons for this problem. This is the only car where l have ever had this problem.
