These IEMs sound incredible for the price. I have several dozen pairs of IEMs ranging up to $600 and I am very impressed with the Trio. It doesn't beat my best IEMs, but it does sound better than a whole range of my others.

OK. This is for those wondering why a balanced output may be needed. In the case of this dac specifically, this is definitely a desktop amp. You're mostly going to use it with laptops/destops and other mobile devices. So here goes. Balanced connections don't make a difference in sound quality itself. If there's a dac/amp that has both connections, the balanced output will usually sound better not because balanced makes a difference in sound but because the engineers generally prioritize it. What a balanced output does is it keeps noise/distortion out of the signal, which is usually introduced after a cable length of 10 feet or more. So unless you're going 10 feet away with a speaker run, which this dac doesn't seem designed for in the first place, it's not an issue. Excellent reiew, by the way.

Can you help, headphones up to $50, main genre preferences are post-punk, post-rock, metalcore, shoegaze, various synth music. I prefer clean sound, I don’t really like this boominess in sound. The Major problem with the Mest2 in my opinion is the the ear tip issue. You can swap ear tips but the bone conduction really only works with the included tips. I have tip rolled my set for hours but the midrange and bass only give depth with the originals. So do NOT loose them. I also wish I had a nice gold/copper cable to smooth them. The Effect Eros 8w seems a little too energetic IMO.

@@radiofreealbemuthI definitely feel it with my pair. It’s not like the actual shell is vibrating but you get a sensation similar to when you play music on over ear headphones at volumes where you can sort of feel the air moving. It gives a unique presentation that makes the music sometimes feel more real and engaging just like if you were sitting before the instruments etc. It’s like listening to an orchestra in real life where you might not necessarily feel the sound from the ground shaking but you can feel the air moving itself if that makes sense when it hits your ears.

In fact I was hearing background noise/wind a lot in one of the KZbin videos and it made it unbearable to watch..
