This is one of my favorite movies. I can't believe it doesn't have a bigger fan base. It deserves it.

When Tom Selleck , said this isn't Dodge City , and you ain't Bill Hickok , I was always wondering if that meant that he was actually the legendary Wild Bill Hickok in the movie?

It's a good scene. Obviously, nobody who didn't practice a whole lot with a revolver could ever shoot that well, and frankly, I don't think anyone ever was that good, period. Bill Hickok never killed three armed prepared men with one draw in his life. Gunfights were never like that in the real west, . Purely an invention of the pulps, then the movies. Now in fairness--he doesn't wait for them to draw. He shoots first, and because they figure he's not good with a sixgun, and his hand is hurt, and a belt draw is hardly ideal, they're not expecting much of a fight. He catches them offguard. But for none of them to clear leather? It's not realistic. And it's not meant to be. This is a tall tale, and you can enjoy it, but nobody should believe it. True of pretty nearly all movies about fast guns. But this was a movie about a great marksman. To be the very best at one thing pretty much always means you won't be the very best at anything else. So no. Not buying it. I did buy my ticket when this came out, though. Pretty good. Not in my top 100 westerns. Or anywhere near it. Anyway, Australia isn't West. It's South. ;)

Loved going through class and to the range. You and Robyn are incredible. I could use some freshening up on my skills.

You read the comments from over 10 years ago, then you read the more recent shit for brains comments of this younger generation. Man have times changed. This movie and ending is a classic! You cannot get two better actors in the same scene battling it out.

I mean in addition to the whole "bad guy talks to much" mistake, he really should have left him his rifle, because there is no way he was pulling off 3 shots with a breach loader like he could with the revolver.

When the hell was this filmed? First it's high noon, then it's late afternoon, then high noon again, late afternoon, on and on. Worst continuity of any movie ever made.

It looks like he hit the guy to his right first, then Allan rickman, then the kid, which is pretty cool, not deeming the middle guy a big enough threat to shoot him first

Ironically, Marston got to die exactly as he would've wanted... a gun duel against an American cowboy sharpshooter, complete with the hero walking over and making a swarthy comment afterwards. It may not have been his PLAN A, but his PLAN B went off without a hitch!

Marsden knew he was in trouble after Quigley so subtly warned him by saying….” you ain’t Bill Hickok”… One of the best gun fight scenes in the movies

When Quigley mentions that he said, "I never had much use for one. Never said I couldn't use one." You can see a small smirk on Alan's face as he realizes he misunderstood what Quigley stated during the dinner meeting. It's subtle but interesting.

Used to think rates of fire like that from a revolver was nonsense, but I've seen some amazing things from some competition shooters.

I slowed it down and it looks like he cocked and fired the first shot and then fanned the next two. In other words, after firing the first shot, he kept the trigger pulled and fanned the hammer with his left hand, which got the shots off quicker.
