Hey man, I'm sorry for getting back to you late. I'm not entirely sure how/if the position of your toes impacts the knuckleball, but you can try experimenting with the positioning of your toes to see what seems to work best for you. I just tried to somewhat mimic the technique I would use when making contact with the ball in my room, and I think I keep my toes relatively parallel with the rest of my foot. Im also a knuckleballer but sometimes it's hard for me

When shooting a topspin shot (or a knuckleball intended to have dip) I think you want to use your instep and prioritize having an upward motion on the ball upon contact. To actually see the difference in techniques between freekicks that have more dip and ones that are more pure knuckle, I think it would be helpful to watch David Luiz's freekick versus Colombia and compare it to Joona Toivio's knuckleball goal off the crossbar. Compared to Joona Toivio, it seems like David Luiz follows through more upward and straight. Additionally, it seems like Joona Toivio hits the ball closer to his laces than David Luiz does. Ultimately, I would say that the biggest difference in technique between shooting a topsin or knuckleball dipping shot and a standard knuckleball is the way in which you make contact with the ball and follow through.
