Hello, I use Race Rekon tires with a max speed mixture on asphalt, I only use these tires on asphalt in the area where I live and trips up to 50 km or more. But I'm looking for mountain tires for day trips, I'm planning to buy new Rekon for the front and back, what do you think will be good for the mountains?? I wanted the middle ground, since I consider the Rekon Race to be more suitable for asphalt and especially a good rubber for asphalt, but for the mountains I would like something more robust but still with good rolling resistance. And disectory is already very demanding for a full-day trip, so Rekon could be the golden mean? What type of tire would you give me, I'm leaning towards recons ☺️
@MaxxisTiresUSA25 күн бұрын
Hi there! Since rolling resistance is important, then the Rekon is the best "all rounder" without going to a heavier/slower rolling trail tire. The Forekaster could be considered as well. Rekon #1 and Forekaster #2 would be our recommendations.

@MaxxisTiresUSA Hello, good ☺️ I want to buy this mixture Maxxis Rekon 29x2.40" WT EXO 3C tire, TR, Kevlar. I believe that it will be long trips in the mountains. These tires are a good choice☺️
@andrejkolman956025 күн бұрын
I only want one tire for the front and rear ☺️ I have 3 sets of wheels and tires. On asphalt, use rims from the manufacturer Merida and max speed Rekon Race tires on asphalt. The next set is rims from DT 511 and Rekon will go on them, and I also have fr 541 rims and assegai in the front and DHR 2 in the back downhill tires 👌by the way, I ride with trail bike hardtail category 4.

There are some interesting studies about how your level of happiness directly impacts the function of cellular mitochondria, the organelles that let your body function. It's an easy choice: good attitude or bad attitude; that one factor will determine your future. It's so interesting to watch Dakota evolve as a DH racer, as he's definitely on his own path.

We would recommend a road tire like the Re-fuse or the Receptor instead of a MTB tire for this application.

Hey.... Witch tire... In comparation with forekaster 2.4, rekon 2.4.. rolling faster in asphalt or compact terrain? I have a spark rc.
@MrTicomachado3 ай бұрын
And on rocks..wet or dry... Witch tire holds you better?
@MaxxisTiresUSA3 ай бұрын
Both are very close in performance in both situations. However, the Rekon would be marginally faster in asphalt/compact terrain and the Forekaster in wet/rocks. The Rekon has tighter spaced knobs allowing it to roll faster and the Forekaster has wider spaced knobs which shed mud easier as well as penetrate loose soil/rocks better.

What about in wet/rain?
@MaxxisTiresUSA3 ай бұрын
the VR2 has solid performance in the rain but the VR-1 is better in wet environments due to the deeper tread depth to evacuate water.

Does the rekon/rekon race wear out fast on pavement roads? Since i use my mtb in both trails and commuting
@MaxxisTiresUSA4 ай бұрын
Yes, road riding will wear the softer compound tires down slightly faster. The dual compound versions will last longer than any of the 3C or MaxxSpeed compounds though.

Coincidently the Maxxis Reckon 2.6 is exactly what was I planning on using on my Roscoe 9. Great to see your impressions. When I got the bike, I wanted to try the Bontrager tires but installed them with butyl tubes. A friend recommended TPU tubes as they’re light, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m struggling with the back wheel as my local trails have lots of roots, so the impacts on the back wheel are hard. I’m now looking for maximum cushioning!! Do you think running theses tires tubeless will add a significant amount of cushioning when compared to running tubes? Thanks!!
@MaxxisTiresUSA4 ай бұрын
By running your tires tubeless, you can run a lower air pressure without the risk of pinch flatting a tube. However, you can still pinch flat a tire if the air pressure is too low for the rider weight/rider style/terrain, etc. This will add a more compliant ride. Generally, we recommend 15-25psi for 2.60 tires if mounted on the recommended 35-40mm inner width rim. It would be recommended to start on the high side (25psi) and work down to see what works for you.
@step1idiomas4 ай бұрын
@@MaxxisTiresUSA My rims are 30mm internal. Can I still use the Maxxis Rekon 2.6 on them? Any downside to it?
@MaxxisTiresUSA4 ай бұрын
The acceptable inner rim width range for a 2.60 tire would be 25-43mm, with 35-40mm being ideal. However, many riders use 30mm with no issues.
