Wow just switching the buttons makes a surprisingly big difference to garment vibe. Im just gonna say. My mom bought me a shawl and im 5’1 and the back goes down to my calves and ngl its great. However its made from a flatter? Smaller??? Yarn so its a lot flowier than your shawl so it might not work but it is cool. Not great when getting into cars tho. Man i should start requesting specific items for my birthday. I dont remember the last time i didnt get money/a gift card fron my mom a bag of skincare/makeup samples from my sister and a budget to buy stocks from my dad 😅. Enjoyed the vid!!!

Wow you’re making so much progress!!! i keep wondering if im missing out on avatar but i also dont know if i have the mental capacity to watch too much anime rn. idk i have a huge backlog of youtube vids to watch and document (idk its a compulsion) so i dont think i can do it. Lol the headband is so kitsch in the best way. Knitting/crochet seems like something so nice for detail oriented ppl. Man online shopping is so difficult in general but it sounds even worse for yarn specifically. I get not completely following directions and taking the ez way out. The same happens to me with sewing (im pretty terrible at handsewing but machines despise me) so i end up just defaulting to stitchs i know rathet than using the appropriate thing for the job. 😅

Oo pretty print!! Man ive been wanting a mesh top not that im actively shopping for it but its whats been catching my eye during target runs 😅. Btw those earrings are divine. The nori hado hojo yarn that you showed is such a darling color palette its so happy looking. Ngl i have quite a bit of yarn for someone who doesnt know how to knit or crochet. But its not enough to make anything its like really little golf-softball sized balls im not even sure where it appeared from. Idk maybe one day i will be inspired to make a sea of pom poms. Enjoyed the vid!!

Hihi!! i havent appeared in a while huh!! Oo i love love love chunky cardigans/sweater. I only own like 4 winter appropriate tee shirts and all the rest of my winter/spring wardrobe is knits usually chunky. The first pic u showed was divine. The sweater that i fell in love with a while ago was a cropped brown and pinky/tanish color check sweater that i saw on a girl in costco 😅. Haveny been able to find anything to replicate. Also that levitate wrap is so pretty. Its like a childhood dream. Bc of ballet. I never got to learn bc my sister tried and they immediately made her cry so my mom told me no ballet which now i see her point but the little fantasy is still there. I adore bunny ears. Rip my oversized pink floppy bunny ear hoodie. Those socks look like what my mom put on me when i was in elementary school 😅. Enjoyed your vid!!!

I've heard of people freezing their mohair projects before frogging, it's supposed to help in case you decide to continue frogging your cardigan. I'm also wondering if you could just steam your frogged hanks vs having to wash them fully, Lisa Makes has talked about it a bit in her frogging videos

Another meshy type of top you might be interested in is the Beltane Sweater by Dora Violet, which I'm working on right now. It's a comparatively pricey pattern and I'm not usually inclined to knit the same pattern more than once, yet I've enjoyed it soooo much I've already bought more yarn to make another! It's written to be a -2 to 0 ease garment so quite different from the ones you showed, but that could make it a good option for those 1-2 skeins of fingering or mohair that might not be enough for much else. Good luck with your stash busting spring!! If you haven't already, maybe calculate how much yarn you have now so you can compare afterwards how much you used up :)

thank you so much for the pattern recommendation! I actually think it will be a perfect Beltane-time cast-on, as I've been meaning to do some themed projects!

I agree with all your points! especially the perceived snobbiness from some knitters towards crocheters. Something I've noticed too (which I don't believe you mentioned, sorry if I missed it!) is how uncomplicated crocheters generally are regarding using value yarn, so when I started seriously knitting last year it was so stark how all everyone uses is only wool and natural fibers which are more expensive. While it was unspoken, it almost felt like if I stick to my good ol' yarn from the big box craft store then I'm not as good of a knitter or my FO is of lesser value. Granted, no one ACTUALLY said that to me, but it was hard to not notice how all I saw when watching knitting podcasts was the international high end yarns or the latest hand dyed yarn that's +$30 each hank 😅
@TheStitchWitchPodcast4 ай бұрын
absolutely!! idk how people are affording full hand-dyed sweaters. I mean, clearly, they just are willing to spend more on hand knitting than I am right now, but there's no point in feeling less than for it! thats why I loved the crochet community, no one seemed to bat an eye at acrylic or craft yarns at all :)

Every now and then I will try to pick up knitting, but I always have this problem where my stitches (is that the term?) just get tighter and tighter and tighter and pretty soon I can't even get the needles through anymore because it's all gotten too tight. Maybe I'm just too tense.

No worries!! Feel free to hold your fingers loosely, wrap the yarn more loosely, and/or start with bigger needles to help out a bit. I also have high tension which is actually fine, but too tight to the point of no needle insertion might be overkill
