This is the second time that I have heard that St. Michael is a black man when he appears to people. Another priest told a story of meeting a black man on a subway with the name of Michael. Afterwards he realized it was St. Michael.

At least the music for this ordination was sacred. The watered-down Novus Ordo ordination of priests is truly sad.

This Rite of Ordination is not a theatrical presentation, so why the clapping, the applause? What has happened to the Catholic Church? What a shame.

I grew up Catholic and I was well versed in their teachings. While I agree with her final point about no one being too far lost that they are beyond the reaches of God’s grace, I will humbly push back on her claim that the Catholic Church is an inspired institution. I do not think that claim is Biblical. Her point that down through the ages people were able to receive the grace of God through their service to the church, and by performing the sacraments and responses according to the tradition established by the church is, I believe, antithetical to the teachings of Jesus, and the Gospel message. Just my opinion.

Her understanding of "survival of the fittest" is flawed but it sells tickets and affirms her beliefs. She uses simple tropes like introducing credentials, stating false assumptions. "Smart people aren't religious" - what nonsense! Plenty of geniuses believe in gods. Her friends flew in for the celebration od her wedding, not the length od her ceremony. One does not follow beliefs to their logical conclusions. One follows logic and not beliefs. Tossing in random odd quotes abour killing a child is ridiculous. Complexity is how you derrive value?? I started watching this to learn something.

Aside from the moral dilemma and taking the entirety of history into account, it’s important to take beliefs to their logical conclusion. In a world of randomized transmutations, why do we not have fossil records before the advanced eye that renders light into images? With species classification in mind, why does nearly every macro-organism in nature have symmetry like a pair of perfectly identical eyes? Get 10 pennies and number them before putting them into your pocket, then pull them out in sequential order. If you think that’s impossible, now imagine the hundreds of mathematical impossibilities that happened in the cosmos and life with exponentially higher odds than a couple coins. If we ask a long series of questions of how certain things came to be, it will eventually lead us to a time of nothing. And we’re presented with a one time contradiction with scientific law where matter and energy materialized or exploded from absolutely nothing. The supernatural does not exist within the worldview of an atheist, but a powerful being such as God has reason to perform such feats. We live in a world where hundreds of scientific and historical prophecies have come to fruition, nor will they ever stop being fulfilled until the finale. The Bible has even mentioned dinosaurs and many things regarding astronomy in a time where people did not understand. Thats another reason it remains the greatest selling book of all time. When you do your due diligence, everything points to one thing. So wake up and smell the coffee.

Yes it does. Jesus started the Catholic Church. He didn't start any other Church. The Canon of scripture came from the Church. So if you trust the Bible thank the Pope's and Bishops of the Church. Maybe it's your church that doesn't have the true gospel??

I have a similar path, but I am going to the Orthodox Church. And the Orthodox Church has been around unchanged (has apostelic succession and the Christ given theology) for about 2000 years. Daily praying and reading of the Bible and trying to subjecting your will totally to God's will. Continual repentance and seeking of the truth. E.g. I found out the source of truth IS the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Catholic church, to be fair, has changed many views throughout it's history. Listening to the various popes approving and disapproving things, gives one whiplash. Put your faith in Christ. He never changes.

Excuse me but it's the Catholic Church that had NOT changed its teachings. Dogma does not change. Like Pope Francis said the other day in 60 min. The Catholic Church will not bless same sex unions, will not have female clergy. Why? Because Jesus started our Church !

I accepted Christ as my personal Savior around 16, and left the Catholic church of my upbringing. I find it worthy to note that all my Catholic family members viewed me as foolish for not using birth control and for trusting God with the number of children He wanted me to have. In fact, they are very, very liberal in many viewpoints. I don't get it.

Dr. Ray Guarendi has a funny way of responding to criticisms of Catholicism by Protestantism and I have to paraphrase: “protestants believe the Holy Spirit will lead them to the truth concerning scripture so essentially, they have 30 million popes and we can’t even have one?”

Beautiful testimony. How wonderful that you responded to the call of God. My mom was raised Catholic in Colombia but eventually came to question certain theological teachings as she started reading the Bible more as an adult. Finally when I was born and after being christened in the Catholic Church, she came to a saving belief in Jesus Christ. After being a part of a few Protestant denominations in the early years, we are all Baptist now based on our understanding of the scriptures. I do believe other denominations can lead to a true saving faith as well. God knows the heart. Blessings to all as God reveals His truths to you ❤

I'm a Protestant but I love the Catholics. There are things I don't really understand about it where it concerns rituals, but Jen isn't wrong. I don't know if I can say "most" but I know that especially amongst the Priesthood, those guys know the Bible backwards and forward. Catholics seem to be much more diligent readers than Protestants and while I don't agree with praying to people that aren't God like the Catholics do, there's something therapeutic about reciting the prayers. "Hail Mary, full of grace...etc". I was in Boston and they had a Catholic channel on AM that was doing round the clock recitals of those prayers and it helped get me through a rough time just meditating while I recited those prayers with the Priest on the radio. Another thing, I don't like the idea of telling some random guy every time I do something bad. I don't think the Bible really justifies that either. Maybe some other Catholic books do, but confessing to the Lord seems to be right, to me at least.

My experience was quite different than Jennifer's, who explains how she fully embraced Catholicism. I was raised in a devout Catholic family. In my youth, I was so convinced that God was responsible for everything I was and had that I could think of only one proper response--to dedicate my life completely in service to the Church as a priest. After service in the Army and completing a degree, I entered the Dominican Order to study for the priesthood. Philosophy and theology (especially in the Thomistic tradition) were the foundations for that formation. Yet it was in those very studies that I found that the sheer force of reason eventually compelled me to reject the existence of God. I spent many decades as a convinced atheist. Yet I never became hostile to religion and I never joined any atheist groups dedicated to opposing those holding fervent beliefs in God. Indeed, it sharpened my interest in matters of faith and the variety of religions in this world. I still enjoyed the rituals and the liturgical seasons in the Church, and my closest friends remained classmates from the seminary. Over a decade ago, I attended an extended retreat at a Cistercian monastery in Utah (of all places). There was no great moment of revelation, but I made a clear choice: I decided to believe in God again. No, not in any dogmatic sense of any particular faith. I am convinced that all faiths strive for ultimate truth, yet the more they try to define and confine God to human language and constraints, the further they obscure the truth they are seeking. I think there is a bridge between atheism and faith, and I detailed that journey in "God Exists (Not Mine, Not Yours)." I don't claim to hold any ultimate truths, but as someone who has been both a devout believer and an ardent atheist, I can say that I have lived and learned in both worlds.

The Roman Catholic Church continues to be inspired by infallibles guidance .... well except for the council of Trent condemning the teaching of Paul on salvation by Faith alone. Oh, and there is that unfortunate inquisition thing that was responsible for 10 million+ dead. Its true, atheism is a lost cause. But Paul taught that scripture ALONE is sufficient for teaching and correction. Gal 1:8 “If we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!”

2024 With all of the events happening Now- What do you think about the church now? Blessing gay marriage? I’m a Christian but I’m not Catholic. I don’t feel it’s biblical. They’ve changed the 10 commandments, they’ve worshipped idols, worship Mary, they even worship the pope. And confessing my sin to a mere man doesn’t sit right with me either. The Bible is to NOT be altered and the Roman Catholic Church have done that- And the sacraments, indulgences( I’m not sure they still do it, but they did) But there are x too many questions. With all of that being said- I AM GLAD you have found CHRIST! I also have a clotting disorder! Wow! I cried watching the first revelation you had as far as what made 10,000 people give up traditions they would have previously DIED to hold onto- They SAW HIM! They SAW THE RISEN JESUS! And it changed them FOREVER!! That touched me to TEARS! I wish you’d look closer at Catholicism. There is some scary stuff intertwined. So I can’t get behind it. But to each it’s own and it’s aJOURNEY!! YAHUAH BLESS YOU!!
