How thick a layer of sand is that? I have base made with 2a modified compacted. Looks oretty flat and level shows 1/8th pitch when I check various locations. But I’ve only left room for 3/4” sand then a 1.5” paver thickness. How do you advise I screed 3/4” layer of sand?

@johnwilkins3995 I screed with 3/4" gas lines that have a 1" outter diameter to leave 1" of screed. I used to set rails by string line but now I use a laser level that has dual slope to set pitch

@Michaelzeleznik4765

@user-ev3xm7np8x it's very apparent how much worse it's quality is compared to a name brand, however for the price of it, it does very close to the same job as the name brand. I'm happy with the $4k-ish I spent rather than $12k on a nicer one, but you'd have to be prepared to make some baffle and mechanical adjustments to it prior to starting

I see all these KZbinrs plowing their massive driveways with like a JD 1025 and it’s so depressing watching those machines be barely more efficient than just shoveling. THIS is what they should be doing. A snowblower is so much faster and efficient and it doesn’t leave huge piles all over your yard that are going to stay until June.

Which driveway are you referring to in the video and what kind of turn around? 2wd doesn't like turning on snow all that much and making a 3 pt turn each pass would take longer, and making a U shape with the snowblower is messy, they're meant to work in straight passes

It did well until late August where it lost most of its foliage early. I think that was in part due to the scorcher of a summer and drought we had, it definitely wasn't the ideal year for it. We did our best to water and fertilize it constantly, but we couldn't keep up with the heat. We'll see if it revives this spring, but not a whole lot of hope for it sadly
