I love how the cutaway foreshadows what Haley has been doing. It's like they say: Do what you love and the money will come.

How would Claire deal in this scene if she was married to one of the Full House guys like Danny, Jesse, or Joey?

I honestly get and relate to a lot of what Alex says and goes through, but the thing I can just never stand about her is despite everything, she still puts herself above the rest of her family, and in more than one occasion has expressed this and insulted her family’s intelligence directly, it just… I don’t know, annoys me about how she says she has a lack of support and attention

The writers themselves put in a lot of humour about Haley, Luke and Phil being not so smart. Most of the jokes about Luke and Phil in particular don’t rely on Alex’s commentary.

The amount of relation to Alex Dunphy is crazy, but so helpful with my feeling. As a middle child, similar to her, I cry every time this episode comes on. I've binged watched this show 6 times in a row now, and I don't care to stop. It hits home so hard and helps me remember being a child. The Dunphy family reminds me of mine so incredibly much 🖤

I relate to Alex so much especially in this scene…My family doesn’t understand me too. I love them but they don’t. They don’t put pressure on me academically but I do to myself and they think my feelings are unimportant. I’m a middle child too and I have a big sister and a little one yet neither of them feels the pressure I feel, not academically or in the topic of success. I often ask why do I feel this while we grew up in the same household. I don’t why but I’m just built that way and I just want my mom and dad to say “I don’t know how you do it with this much to do and this much pressure. We understand you and we are proud of you.” (the way Claire did to Alex) Yet they never do. My dad motivates me to get better grades though doesn’t understands me when I want to work and not go out. When it comes to my mom…One moment I feel like she understands and then she starts arguing with me on why I feel so intense pressure. I really love my parents they are the best. However, they never REALLY understood me in any matter and treat me like I have anger issues. (because they dont understand the fact that I get angry because I am under HUGE pressure.) :/ On top of this I feel left out just because of this. Middle child syndrome is literally living and breathing me.

This is how I feel. I feel like I could do a lot better than I am currently doing, and then making me think like this hurts my other activities like grades.

One main reason why I hate Claire was that yeah it's important that when one of your kids wins a lot of stuff don't make the other kids feel bad about them not getting anything but she did it so much to Alex that she felt like she had to keep getting more, putter her through stress etc. Like when she got Luke that award and was so happy for him when Alex got a lot and didn't even say she was proud. SMH.

But think of it from Claire's perspective though. She has to live in a house with 4 children (including Phil) and take care of them. Sure, Phil sometimes persevere as a Dad figure, but mostly he's a child too. And in the situation, there's only so much Claire can do. She knows Alex is smart and independent, so she focuses on the other two. She didn't know what Alex was going through because she's never been like Alex. And on this episode, she understands what it means to be Alex is thus she appreciates Alex in the end. Claire has been going through a lot the whole show and yet is a really good mom to her kids. Honestly, after Alex, Claire is my favorite character of the show. Also, the not-so-smart kid's small achievements are definitely special compared to the smart kid's 100th award. Not saying one is better than the other, but both are just different.
