You should’ve used that measuring tape at the start and measured where you want to cut. Then you wouldn’t end up with one leg longer than the other

Nice interview. It does not surprise me to hear that Mike Vitar had a 19 year old girlfriend when he was 14. Dude was a stud lol

Jubera's game is outstanding. I wish way more high level competitors used the same style. There wouldn't be as many videos making fun of bjj on the internet.

It is actually a big deal. If you feel your ear is sore but not puffed up, you've got yourself a minor damage. The cartilage might've broken a little but with no fluid in it. No draining is needed, but it grows thicker. When there's a major damage and you get fluid in between the layers of your ear, you'll notice it immediately and the damage is IRREPARABLE. Drain and pack it RIGHT AWAY to minimize the swelling. But the ears just don't get back to their original shape. Always wear headgear and be safe.

It is fun to put blue belts in cradles. To watch their ego disappear and they become white belts. Lol

I really enjoyed the BJJ Brick podcasts! By far the best bjj focused conversations I've found on the web. Sad to see it go, but glad it was there to support me throughout my bjj journey 👊 good luck to yourself, Gary and Joe

I started at 59 at a Gracie school. I’m 9 months in and I love it. I go 3-4 days a week and on my days off I typically feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. Some days I feel like I have learned quite a bit….other days I leave wondering if I am learning anything at all. I do know that if I fought myself from 9 months ago, I’d win easily. I am the oldest guy at the school. Most guys I train with are 35-45 and in great shape, but they are so helpful and always take time with me. I have never had anyone try to hurt me at all. I started with my grandson because he was getting bullied at school, and he went home when summer was over and I just kept going. I LOVE IT ! Will I get a black belt at 70…who knows, but I do hope to get my blue belt one day and just keep going.

I am a 60 year old white belt , 7 months in, at a Gracie school. We are retiring soon to Nicaragua and I hope to continue doing BJJ. We are looking at the highlands like Matagalpa, Jinotega, Esteli….looking for cooler temps. Any idea if there are any BJJ schools in any of these cities ? Thx !

Good selection. If looking out for any wrestling books, I'd highly recommend "Wrestling Tough" by Mark Chapman, "The Silent Gladiators" by Nicholas Hopping, and "Four Days to Glory" by Mark Kriedler.

The elephant in the room in the USA is the prevalence of guns. It's much more important for police to be able to draw their weapons quickly and fire accurately than grapple when many of the people they are arresting are armed.

Thank you for covering this topic. While I was fortunate enough to not test for my blue belt, many of my training partners earned it through a rather difficult test (30-min of rolling with no water allowed, attending several seminars on specific dates, as well as a written test).

Totally. I just returned to Jiu Jitsu since our lockdowns have ended and am trying a new school. They had a white belt tournament a week after I joined. My initial thought was “I’m out of practice and I don’t want to get hurt”. While watching the tournament it looked like such fun I regretted not signing up. Then I heard a pop from on of the competitors knees. All thought of regret left me and I immediately knew I had made the right choice to sit this one out 😎
