how should i start to ride rails. This year im trying to learn how to ride rails what should i do?
@samfreeski112 күн бұрын
Figured out which side is your natural side, so either hitting the rail with your left foot forward or right foot, for me my left being at the front is natural so I do that. After that find a rail which isn’t too long or to big, and send it 🤙🏻 ask someone at the park about the speed which u should hit it and just make sure you commit!!! The more you do it the more it’ll feel comfortable and eventually u can do it with your eyes closed ahaha. Hope this helps, lmk if you need anything else 🤙🏻🫶🏻

@samfreeski114 күн бұрын
I’d say that your skis aren’t the reason you’re not landing tricks, a few kg isn’t going to make a difference if you’re just starting out, the height and width of a ski can definitely make a difference but you’re on a good pair of park skis so the length should t matter as long as they’re not rly short or massively tall. Depends on what tricks you want to do? If you’re just starting you have to be realistic, are you comfortable with hitting rails/pipes?

What ski length do you have compared to your height? I'm 1.76 and went with 1.76 skis, but finding them a bit too heavy for tricks - baffled how people jump around with them when I can barely lift them lol. My Faction CT 1.0 weigh 1.95kg per ski; to which I also add bindings 'Attack 13' which are ~1kg per binding - is this a heavy set up for park? (~3kg per leg i guess). Maybe I'm just weak lol

As someone who has been skiing for 20+ years since age of 4 (with competitive coaching and races), your progress at that age is insane and it's 100% because you're not scared to try new shit, and you do it confidently. There is however a fine line between confidence and recklessness on the mountain, and I really hope you've found it. Good luck brother and always push your limits wisely and safely!

@samfreeski118 күн бұрын
If you’re just starting freestyle you can get a good pair on sale for like £200-250 normally can find like 40-50% off sometimes, my first pair cost me just under 400 brand new, my current line chronically cost around 500. But would deffo recommend waiting for a sale to get some, hope this helps 🤙🏻

hey how do you get a flat 180 around on ground? when I am on a snowboard its super easy but when I switch to skis I cant really do it. I think its also because the gear is just really heavy compared to a snowboard but im not sure how to get the 180 around on flat
@samfreeski119 күн бұрын
I either jump and rotate 180 or something like when turning just feel you skis and let them come around and your body will follow, hopefully this helps

That snowboarder doesn’t know what a backside and frontside is lmao. There is no backside or frontside for skiers lmfao
@StephanSavy15 күн бұрын
You are wrong. Although you have a point, Frontside/backside refers to the riders preference, backside is with the dominant side and frontside is against it. Bs/fs still applies, you can’t ski your way out of that boys it’s just the way it is.
@StephanSavy15 күн бұрын
Your skis might be parallel but you are still human.
@samfreeski1115 күн бұрын
Frontside/backside refers to which way a skier would rotate/spin off the end of a rail, that’s got nothing to do with which side is dominant or whether it’s called a back 180 or 180🤣 it’s just a 180 no backside no frontside. However matey you can have a natural or unnatural 180.
@Dluiogbre15 күн бұрын
You are completely wrong. In snowboarding, FS refers to the frontside of your body facing downhill first during a spin (lookers viewpoint). Backside refers to backside of your body facing downhill first during a spin (lookers viewpoint). It has nothing to do with what is dominant. Some people have a more dominant FS and feel that is easier. Some people have a more dominant bs rotation and feel that is easier.
@samfreeski1115 күн бұрын
@@Dluiogbre bro when have I been talking about snowboarding, the whole of that reply to you someone skiing. I even said in the video that I know it’s called a back 180/front 180 but for a skier, like myself we just call it a 180

@samfreeski1115 күн бұрын
@ I’d personally say go for a pair of used skis, I’ve had 2 new pairs and I’ve broke both of them, 1 to the extent that it can’t be fixed and the other one will need to be gone soon ish, I’m currently riding a used pair from 2017, can tell the difference but not to the extent that it makes a big difference.
