I bought it over 20 years ago without cars. I can't imagine it was that much back then.

I got this for Christmas around 97 or 98, I still remember that some 28 years later. I also think I remember we had to use basically every battery we owned for the chargers.

How did you find out it’s a 10th anniversary set?
@dmelzinga21 күн бұрын
@oldsdude75 I know you have the 15th anniversary with a belt buckle released in 1983 for reference. This belt buckle pack was 1978. In 1968 the first Hot Wheels were introduced making this a 10th anniversary pack although it only says special collectors edition belt buckle on it.

Can you tell me how the cars are held in place ?? I assume by rubber bands around the wheels ? The box I have came with loose cars and were missing the rubber bands. I have an empty 1976 box of the classic machines, but that still has the rubber bands.
@dmelzinga28 күн бұрын
@@rjwalker4153 they are all held on with rubber bands. 👍
@rjwalker415328 күн бұрын
@@dmelzingaThanks. I had used clear "twistems" around each cars windshield to hold them in place. Probably not as good as rubber bands because they could possibly leave a scratch on the car. I tried not to get too tight though. They display well.

This is my favorite set . Not only are the cars cool, but the box graphics are outstanding. I have the 1980 version but it says 1976 on the box. My box is not in as nice condition as either of yours though. Even so, it took a long time for me to find one reasonably priced. I have seen them as high as $900 !

One of my favorite sets too. I have a set, but my box is not in as nice condition as yours. Mine doesn't have the patch offer either as I think mine is a different version. Took me quite a long time to find the boxed set reasonably priced. I have seen them as high as $900 !

Hi Dennis, I had a question for you about an older video you posted. The Spiral Speedway Playset.
@dmelzingaАй бұрын
@alcidesneto84 sure. What's your question?
@alcidesneto84Ай бұрын
@ I have a reason to believe that P-911 is exclusive to that playset. Notice the line on the deck of the car? I cannot find that same HO P-911 in a single blister with the deck line. All the ones I have found with the line were loose and in poor condition. I believe Mattel retooled the mold once they ended the redline era and started the blackwall. Just a theory anyway. I wanted to share that with you to see if you knew anything about it. Also your video is the only one I have been able to find about this playset so no others to compare.
@dmelzingaАй бұрын
@alcidesneto84 interesting observation. I had not noticed the hatch line before. Upon further investigation, I have not discovered any other P911 turbo with that specific feature on any of my carded or loose in that era. My white ones don't have it and the black with the Truck Co. Just after it doesn't have the feature. Thank you for your very detailed insight.

My god!!! I just recently got back into collecting Hot Wheels (plus a few other brands) die cast models again after taking a hiatus of nearly fifty years, but seriously, I somehow contracted the itch to collect them, and I've been hunting, and only now do I realize that I once owned this track here! Thank you so much for reminding me. So many of my toys must have been tossed or given away!!!! My mother did manage to save some for me, some even with some decent collector's value, and to her credit, she did save some of my Hot Wheels. Man, I would like to have all of the track I used to have back then. Regardless, I've watched less than ten seconds of this video, so I need to return to back to viewing it, so thank you, Hot Wheels Squirrel, for triggering my memory . . . most appreciated!!!

I first saw this video about 2 years ago. This ‘67 Camaro was already a favorite of my youth. Then I saw this video and “zing!!!”…I had to have this set. Well, I now have 2 very nice complete sets and at least 2 more but without the cardboard buildings or obstacles or whatever they’re called. I have a lot of sets, but this is probably my favorite. Thanks for the awesome videos!👌🏼

Very nice collection. Hard to find 1968 customs with matching hoods.. When you brought out the magenta VW, I thought that was rare and then you really stepped it up with the hot pink one! I wanted to point out that your Camaro is in a regular shade of emerald green. Apple green came out in 1970 and you commonly see them on Porsche 917's and Swinging Wings from the same year. . Apple green is one of the tougher colors for the custom Eldorado which had a production run from 1968 through 1971.

Mattel made this track set to compete with the Sizzler cars that refueled by plugging them into a charger that was shaped like a gas pump. The old style of this track set had the hand cranks that would gage how fast the cars traveled on the track. No batteries at all.
