I agree that farmer knows best what their animals need. Definitely many many different approaches to livestock management and not every approach will work the same from farm to farm. Thank you for watching.

I've heard they are low in fat. Which I see as a negative. Duck fat is after all delicious. So I think I'd rather prefer a breed with more fat on their body.
@FableHillFarm20 күн бұрын
It is true that in most scenarios, they will never put much fat on. They are considered a very lean bird. I do love duck fat myself.

Such Beautiful Muscovys, I'm jealous, I only have white, some with black caps, Can I ask, if I bred white with black caps, could that introduce more black into the next generation?
@FableHillFarm20 күн бұрын
It really depends on the genetics behind the birds. Black is dominant but if you have heavy pied birds, you may need to bring in more solid genes to see solid black birds.

Have two LGD Anatolian Shepards. 14 weeks old now. I am doing passive training by walking them around the 20 acres a couple of times per day and familiarizing them with the chickens and other livestock. They are crazy. lol. They will sit and are leashed trained. I like your gate training and will start that tonight. They have a bad habit of jumping on the screen slider when they get excited. Any suggestions?

As I am concerned a maremma guard dog is a better choice because it barks only when necessary and it does not tend to wander to it stays on the property.close to the farm animals to protect.
@BobBraun-lr5fxАй бұрын
I would be curious as to the weight difference with the two techniques. If you take two equal weight ducks how much do you lose by taking breast and leg only. That said, the rest of the carcass would still make great feed for black soldier fly to feed back to the rest of the duck flock.

If all i can find is chicken feed, what do i need to supplement? They free graze and forage a pond and field but never sure what exactly theyre eating. Mosquito hawks they love, funny to watch them chase.

Definitely get them some nutritional yeast. That should be good if they are free ranging

Please what’s the prize of a dose of semen for a boar goat. Where can I get a training as an inseminator for sheep and goats? Where can I buy the semen for boar goats? Can I have their contact please?
@FableHillFarmАй бұрын
Hi there. I'm really not sure on the price of Boer semen as I don't deal with meat goats but if you look up 'Boer semen for sale' I'm sure you can find it. Where are you located? If in the US there are AI clinics that are held throughout the US at various times. I know that Biogenics does a class, you might reach out to them. Biogenics, Blue Mountain Genetics, B&D Genetics and Cryogenics are the companies I've heard of that sell semen.
@user-og3ue6eq2rАй бұрын
Thank you very much Madam for your reply to me. My name is Pierre Kamga. I am from Africa and precisely from Cameroon. I am in the USA for the moment and I will like to have a training in the area of insemination of sheep and goats. Our vision is to create a nucleus herd for the multiplication and distribution of good genetic mater in sheep/goats farming. Therefore I need to be trained in Ai for sheep/goats,and to acquire some Ai equipment. A partnership in such a project is wellcome so that good genetics materials could be disseminated in West Africa someday. Thank you for your Video and for your support. God bless you.

I have a question. Do you start milk replacer at some point? My triplets are almost 2 weeks and i have another kid thats 2 months. I dont have facebook so i cant ask there. Im exhausted lol.
@FableHillFarm2 ай бұрын
I don't give milk replacer, I use whole red cap milk if I need to supplement. Milk replacer has a lot of varying quality and formulations depending on brand and there is only 1 I hear is actually safe for baby goats without causing GI distress so I just use red cap milk.

I had a few years ago and am getting fertile eggs this year. Thinking I will not allow free-ranging, though with streams here it would've been fun...but the predators abound here, and I want them nesting where I can see/protect them.

I have Moscovies and I am indeed wondering whether it is a good idea. While I am pondering this, I am on the look-out for a new male, as the old one got killed by a fox. Can't wait for the first ducklings to help me decide.

Thank you for showing the process. As a fellow goat breeder who has been thinking of pulling kids this allows me to help visualize the process! I would definitely agree pulling right at birth seems the least painful.

I’m in Florida and I have a Muscovy duck rescue. The way they look at Muscovies in certain areas is ridiculous 😢 They are the sweetest pets. I love them. They are my family 💜 People are morons. The Muscovies can control the mosquito population- but instead some of these communities would kill the Muscovies - then pay to have toxic chemicals sprayed all around their property Idiots

Just found your channel, thank you for sharing your training and journey. In the process of purchasing a small farm and will be adding an LGD, or two. While I train dogs and service dogs, I have not a clue to train an LGD. Loving that you're feeding what raw you can and using a holistic approach. Hope you're feeding the whole egg with the shell, its really good for them. You can use fresh garlic as a natural dewormer, and it also helps prevent fleas and ticks. Virgin coconut oil is great for the dogs, and fractioned coconut oil (not oily) can be rubbed into the back end, preventing spurs from sticking as well as its other great qualities. Thank you, I'll be watching your other training videos

Is it hard to find customers for good Lifestock Guardian Dogs? Since I know a lady she's having perfect Kuvasz working dog puppies looking for work and looking for a new home. Send a comment down below and I'm happy to forward more information about her. Puppies are CKC registered, vet checked, microchipped and raised on her farm, exposed to livestock, with good genitics working dog parents.

Yes, it's very hard. Most farming communities are overwhelmed with excess lgds, mostly because people do not have the patience to work with the dogs for YEARS. These poor dogs end up roaming, getting hit by cars or picked up to shelters. Don't do it.

I really don't understand why you are pulling them at birth. It heartbreaking to watch the mama look for her baby after all that hard & painful work.. that's like winning the lottery & someone stealing your ticket. 🥺
@nikolio77792 ай бұрын
I have had boys milk out mom and the girl suffers. I'm pulling for dairy reasons also and it's way more heartbreaking when they bond to mom and get pulled so they stop sucking milk at 8 months

I love my Muscovy’s. They are my family But just like with any pet. If you don’t everything to give the proper care for whichever fur or feathered or even scaled baby it is- then it’s not fair to the animal. They are my babies. They are a part of our family - and that’s how everyone should treat them.

As far as the brushing and matting on the back end. Use Cowboy Magic detangler. Really helps condition the hair and keep it easy to brush through with fingers.

New to your channel. I feel very sad the mama doesn’t even get to meet her babies!😢 Haven’t seen this method of total cutoff/removal of the baby at birth, out the MANY goat birth videos I’ve watched. 💔
@FableHillFarm2 ай бұрын
Hi there. This is the #1 most common kid pulling method amongst dairy goat breeders. You have to realize only a handful of people who have goats are on KZbin and the overwhelming majority of those have them as a homestead type animal. I raise my goats for milk and show and this method has many health benefits that ensure kids that grow well and are mostly free of parasites, bacteria or diseases and prevents damage to my doe’s udders. Allowing the doe to bond and then pulling the kids is much harder on the doe then just simply removing them at birth as I have done. The does go right back to the herd and don’t agonize over losing babies that they have established a bond with. They bond with me instead.
