I am currently wearing the vacoped but for someting this expensive, it is giving me still quite a lot of discomfort: I generally choose to not put the top part on because it presses into the top part of my foot really badly, which almost led to a beginning pressure ulcer. Also, since I've come down to almost 0 degrees, all along the process, I've never managed to keep the heel against the back of the boot, no mater how tight I pull the straps.

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with our product. It’s important that the orthosis is not closed too tightly. As soon as you feel the first resistance from the Velcro strap, it should be fastened immediately. Additionally, the vacuum cushion must be readjusted every time the foot is removed from the orthosis. With the vacuum cushion, you have the possibility of an individual adjustment. You can move the beads inside the cushion in such a way that a "hollow space" is created exactly at the pressure point.If the discomfort persists, I recommend contacting your treating physician or the medical supply store that provided the device. Best regards. Your OPED Team

@@OPEDGmbHde Thank you for your (unexpected) reply. However, my not too satisfied mind feels the need to express that your recommendations do not really make sense. Personally, I think there is still room for improvement of the shape of the boot (in the way I am wearing/have worn it. I have tried many different ways of adjusting it, and I ahve read the manual carefully also, so I was aware of the existence of the beads and their adjustability. However, for me, the top part which is hard plastic, actually was pressing through the velcro part that when closed covers the top of the foot, because there are no beads there. Also, as the angle of the ankle changes, the ankle strap (second one) cannot always fall into the groove that exists in the top part of the boot, but rather falls on the edge of it. Finally, I still do not have a way to keep my heel pressed against the heel of the boot, because the "sock" always slides to the front, do you have any recommendation for that? Thank you

@OPEDInternational Жыл бұрын
As the Vacoped has a certain height, it is possible to order a so-called "levelling sole" from us or you can have a sole fitted to your own shoe in a medical supply store. This allows you to stand up straight and avoid problems with your hips.

@@OPEDInternationalhi, thank you for responding to me yesterday, i just came back from the hospital, and I spoke to the podiatrist and she goes it's not a good thing to elevate the foot that much because it becomes unbalanced the other foot becomes too bouncy, so in here it's my husband's foot who's uneven and we do have the healthy foot elevated already but, after 3 days using it by husband is having hip pain from standing up being uneven, let's say we would like to order your leveling sole, how much would it cost? And if you can send me a link that would be very helpful, PS: we live in Canberra ACT, do you deliver in our area?. Thanks

Currently suffering from an Achilles rupture that I’m treating non op. I will say the transition to neutral where u change the bottom foot plate is uncomfortable. Like very uncomfortable. Other then that I had no problems but again very uncomfortable last stage
@OPEDInternational Жыл бұрын
Hello Lou, unfortunately, an Achilles tendon rupture is a very unpleasant injury. Because you have to stand at an unusual angle to avoid putting strain on the Achilles tendon, it can feel very uncomfortable to be back in the neutral position. It is best to talk to your doctor about your symptoms and whether it is already time to change your position.

Can you use this for a Achilles tendon rupture? I had surgery & I am in a boot but the boot is too bulky….
@OPEDInternational Жыл бұрын
Yes, achilles tendon ruptures are an indication to be treated with VACOped Short. But due to its smaller size VACOped Short only offers range of motion up to 20° - in contrary the regular VACOped offers range of motion up to 30°. Please talk to your treating doctor if using VACOped Short is a possible achilles tendon rupture treatment for you!

@pjaypender1009 Жыл бұрын
No! This is far too little support for a tendon rupture, is placing the foot in the wrong position and does not protect the tendon in the rear of the ankle. OPED makes a boot specifically for achilles tendon ruptures, called VacoPed.
@shadhenderson60002 жыл бұрын
Hey, ruptured my right achilles two weeks ago. The boot was causing a lot of swelling, pain and discomfort from the heat. Found that removing the boot and resting the foot angled down and sideways on a pillow when working during the day eliminated all these issues. However, slightly unsure if this is okej or if it may affect the healing process, could not find anything on it online. So, my question is, is this a sensible thing to do. I'm still using the boot when sleeping and when moving around. Thanks

@James Cooper yes that’s right thank God for the NHS, mine was also free but I was just saying that they are about £300 to buy . I believe as the weeks go by the hospital call you in and adjust the incline of the foot by gradually decreasing the angle of the foot in increments . If you look closely there’s a plastic key fitted into it that they adjust the mechanism with 👍
