Yeah compared with Mimi’s version this one feels much more real. While I don’t think Mike’s ever going to go away, since she’s just so iconic and popular, Teto actually has a real possibility of fading away in the future. Only a few people know that Vocaloids even exist, and among those who do, fewer still know that there’s more than just Miku. Past that, many people don’t even know Teto exists, and among those who do, many still just take her for a joke, and those who don’t take her as a joke, only a few of those are her actual fans. A fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction. Mike’s version sounds like a dystopia, where internet culture has died and vocaloids are going with it, Miku the last remnant of a legacy, the greatest of her people reduced to a few lines of code. Teto, however, feels like someone left in the dust, an obsolete model, a joke, that people simply laughed at, maybe a few loved, but eventually moved on from. What I’m trying to say is that this song feels real, and sad. The bad end of a miracle.
