How are you liking this turbine? I am considering purchasing the same one. Any words of wisdom?

Slip rings failed after 8 months. I now have it hard-wired using a fairly heavy cable which does not wind round the pole very often. Springs broke also - there is a stress point. I converted it to a slightly stronger sprung arrangement with 4 springs but it never makes more than 1.6kW (into a 16cell LiFePo4). Apart from that limitation the generator and rotor are ok. Be careful if you have voltage sensitive devices attached when the battery BMS detaches. >100v happens. I dump into a 1ohm resister when that happens.

Doesnt seem to be working hard enough before spilling….? Not like there’s a hurricane blowing through? Could you put some more tension on the springs or add a secondary slimmer spring(s) to get that extra 500w out of it if you’ve got the breeze of course…. Maybe an adjustable spring tension block could be added to adjust/vary spring tension and therefore set output before spilling….?

Hi Turtle Yes no doubt more could be squeezed out of the turbine with stronger springs. The percentage of time we get strong winds is low so I am happy the way it is. My main source of power is solar. Cheers Simon

I'm just so endlessly impressed. Roy can still hit so many of the high notes, and his picking is intact. I would go so far as to suggest he is animated by a great purpose, one many of us can learn from, as evidenced in his Man & Myth album. I hope I'm still this engaged with my art form at age 75!! Thank you for posting this, SnapperGH2, whoever you are - I would have travelled across the ocean to be there, had it been possible ;)
