Did you buy that airframe that way, without the cheesy rudder livery, or did you strip the decals off the rudder?
@jared6072 Жыл бұрын
I got it from Motionrc and they have them without the tiger decals applied. I ended up applying them to the rudder though and man was that a pita😅. The first go at getting that big one on, i about went psycho, about ripped it up, then randomly figured out to spray it with water to make it way easier to slide it about. When starting to apply it , you wet the decal for five seconds and set it on some wax paper. Paint on micro set on the painted surface and then slide your decal as close as you can to where it needs to be. Then spray the decal with water and let the slipperiness of the micro set allow you to message the decal into place easily like kneading bread almost. Apply more water to let it loosen up, but not so much that it washes away the adehsive. Brush micro sol on the top of the decal and the thing looks like it was painted on.

Looks like you increased the ailerons mine doesn't role that fast. I've took out the massive iron bar in the elevator and added rudders.. It flies a lot more scale with a bit of rudder when cornering. Plus you have the full bag of tricks. And found it easier to balance correctly saving weight.
@modeljetjuggernaut4864 Жыл бұрын
I thought about the rudders.. perhaps i can use one servo and attach one to the other with a rod. Is that what u did? And i think it rolled particularly fast that day because the winds were pretty strong 😬

@@modeljetjuggernaut4864 No I used 2 3.6g micro servos embedding them in the fins running the control wires up the booms. After removing the lump of iron in the elevator (which causes it not to fly as scale also) you have plenty of weight free. Can take a photo/vid tomorrow if you like

Was this 6s or 8s? What's your thoughts?
@jared6072 Жыл бұрын
Its 6s. I had to do a few mods to get cg at 40mm behind the recommended marks with 700-740 gram 5000 6s lipos without having to add alot of extra dead weight in the back. Pulled the magnets out of the nose and glued the nose on, removed pilot, removed the airbrake mechanism (i have a mix to pivot canards down as shown by two brothers rx), and stuck the control box all the way back under the airbrake mechanism. I hogged out the foam under the rudder as far back in the base of it as i could and dropped the included cylinder weight plus another 20 grams of lead. If i have the missile pylons on, i can get cg where this plane lands and flies beautifully. Im on the fence about 8s. I think 8s would be a rocket for sure. Hell, the 6s has plenty of pull and speed already. The airframe could deffinetly handle the extra weight you put into it with the negatives being that it will land faster and will not as nimble in the air. At least thats what i felt when i switched to the freewing 8s setup on the F22. The f22 still handles like a beast with all that extra weight and was worth it for that bump in power where i feel the typhoons already weak pitch authority will become worse with the added weight. Maybe not. Stay tuned cause another guy at the field bought an 8s typhoon and we will see if it worth the extra weight for that speed and power bump.

Great video. I just bought this jet and wondered why you suggested an external BEC? I see the stock double cable that goes to channel 3 on the receiver has two red wires. Thinking that it would feed the receiver 10 volts, I clipped and insulated one of them so the receiver only gets 5 volts from the one ESC.
@modeljetjuggernaut4864 Жыл бұрын
10 volts in theory would not get to the RX. They are regulated down to 5 whether by the stronger of the load taking over or both sharing the load. It also depends if they were switching or linear becs, with the linear ones ok to use both red wires. Dont exactly know why and there is a big debate about this in the forums. Also don't remember what the Brw 262 was as I havent had this plane for years now, but in any case, I would still use an external Bec in any edf setup. Why? More amps and heat go through the escs to drive these fans. If your esc overheats, so does your internal bec..and there goes your servos for any chance of a power off glide. 3S probably wouldnt have been a problem to run two wires since the becs are more rated for the thermal limits at that kind of voltage.

In its original state, it can also fly - just wonkier controls. With differential thrust, it's harder to trim out to fly straight. Also the lipo that it comes with are more subject to failure if not cared for properly. They can develop high internal resistance and not produce the power needed to even get off the ground, let alone hand launch.

@@evassier that wasnt intentional. 😅 The wind was a little gusty switching from north to northeast and from maybe calm winds to maybe 12 mph. It was calm as i was approaching and them i felt gust pop up and i think the wind was swirling down the runway. It didnt feel like a traditional stall like other planes cause i feel like the b2 would tip stall like the the second one that landed. It felt like someone literally grabbed the left wing and shoved it up and forward cause the gyro and i wer able to save it with tons of elevator, aileron, and a quick burst of thrust. Im sure it wasnt a gyro or radio glitch cause i couldnt see the control surfaces moving erratically in the video right up until the incident that lead to my brown pants.🤣

Did you change the motor and then go fly without confirming the CG was still correct?
@modeljetjuggernaut48642 жыл бұрын
Same kv motor and also new esc. Nothing should have changed dramatically to make it that tail heavy except when I rebound to the plane and the elevators were off.
@shelbyseelbach95682 жыл бұрын
@@modeljetjuggernaut4864 Was it the same model of motor from the same manufacturer? Was it the same model of ESC from the same manufacturer? The only thing that will make the model tail heavy is adding weight behind the aerodynamic center of lift or removing weight in front of it. The elevators can't make the plane tail heavy, they can only make it out of trim in pitch about the horizontal axis. The same kv motor from a different manufacturer may not be the same weight as the original. The same amp ESC from another manufacturer may not be the same weight as the original. Even a small weight change can make a big difference in the CG. It's not just the weight, it's the combination of the weight and the arm (distance from center of lift). Weight times arm gives a moment (essentially torque). This is the effect that is actually felt. Same as a torque wrench. Ten pounds applied to a torque wrench one foot away from the pivot point yields ten foot pounds of torque, apply ten pounds two feet out and you get twenty foot pounds of torque. Apply ten pounds directly to the pivot point and you get no torque or movement at all. This is why you can add weight at the CG and it effects nothing, it has no arm to act through, and will only increase the wing loading. The father away a small weight is added, the more effect it has. The best rule is to never change any component without verifying the CG is still correct. Even the same model of motor from the same manufacturer may have been updated and be heavier or lighter than the older one you were using. Weighing old and new components for comparison is also a good practice, you'll get surprised sometimes. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new, but a verbal reminder from someone is ALWAYS better than the way the plane will remind you. LOL.
@modeljetjuggernaut48642 жыл бұрын
@@shelbyseelbach9568 I believe every word you say, little buddy. Here's the zany thing- This motor was used in the exact same 2 models that have long since retired which have been featured on way earlier videos on this channel. There, the plane is flying on rails with no issues. It is also the motor that comes with the kit. The reason why I changed the last one is because it burnt itself up and fried the stock ESC. So I bascially made a one for one swap with components that already come with this kit. Also, there is no moving the battery forward or aft for CG. It gets installed in this goofy little picnic basket embedded in the fuselage and can't accomodate anything bigger than a 2200 4s. So it was pretty much designed as a no-brainer setup. Only other thing I can do is add ballast weight to the nose, but that adds to the wingloading; Or maybe move the EDF unit forward a peg... but that will cut down on the thrust.
@shelbyseelbach95682 жыл бұрын
@@modeljetjuggernaut4864 Ok, was just asking. You could add weight to the nose, if it is tail heavy. It's not necessary to move the battery or fan unit. CG is never a no brainier, and should never be assumed. Sorry for the in depth comment before. Thanks for the reply, little buddy.
