Just read this online: "Candy’s character, Freddie Bauer, was supposed to hit ball, have it bounce off the wall and come back to hit him in the head. Ron Howard planned to film this with multiple shots, since-in the days before CGI-it was virtually impossible to do the shot practically. In a one in a million happenstance, when Candy hit the ball, it did come flying back, striking him squarely in the head. Instead of being taken out of character, as might happen to anyone in that situation, the comedian instinctively continued the scene with a comedy drop to the floor, creating a one-take cinematic moment that could never have been intentionally duplicated."

I recently found the clip where his sister-in-law, doctor, stops examining a patient rectally, and then tries to grab Tom's face without taking off her gloves. She doesn't seem to understand why he's grabbing her wrists.

This scene is amazing! John Candy's humour seems to have emanated naturally from him. He was clearly a "born comedian" . Watching this clip reminds me of how great he could be - not to suggest that Tom Hanks is some kind of slouch - he was tremendous in this film! He had a knack for comedy too. I wish sometimes that he'd return to his comedic roots one day. And this film, Splash? 1984 - I was 9 when it came out. And I think that it was maybe the first time that I saw a woman's bare bum in a film! My goodness...it was amazing! What a time to be alive...9 years old, watching a hilarious film, seeing a hot woman's bare bum...what else could a 9 year old have asked for?

"It's called 'A lesbian no more.' It's a beautiful story!" I saw this at the theater, it came out in '84, so I would have been 7 or 8. Daryl Hannah's bare ass was the first naked body i ever saw in s movie.
