Grenfell is the result you can expect from a hollowed out Neoliberalisam system that Thatcher announced with, "we must pull back the State", I didn't rejoice at the time, but many did as they could buy their Council housing. Grenfell failed on so many levels it shouldn't have been handed over, and the people responsible didn't appear at the Grenfell Inquiry. So it will continue.

It's also fairly well known, at least in the firefighting community, that buildings made of those insulated structural panels are dangerous as well. When a fire burns away the foam insulation, the panel no longer has much integrity, so it cannot support much weight, leading to collapse. I agree, the Grenfell incident is unique. But the cladding did compromise the fire safety of the building. I'm not even an architect or structural engineer but I am knowledgeable enough to know that flammable cladding on such a building is a no-no.
